He's a brilliant player. Intelligent, good link up play, quick, sets up goals, good goalscorer, quick feet, he's got the lot.

Is that a Sunday World journalist claiming to have reliable sources?

Right.

Reus, a Vidal/Gundogan type, a Koke-type playmaker in the middle, a left-back (let's say Luke Shaw).

Total outlay: £125 million

Sales:
Valencia - £10 million
Young - £8 million
Anderson - £7 million

Net spend: ~£100 million.

De Gea

Rafael ---- Smalling ---- Jones ---- Shaw

Vidal/Gundogan - Koke

Mata/Januzaj/Nani --- Rooney/Mata/Kagawa --- Reus/Kagawa/Nani

van Persie/Rooney

We're suddenly the best team in the league again.

There was movement in my pants after reading this.

It's amazing what two or three players can do to a team. Although he shouldn't have said it publicly, Moyes was spot on when he said we needed 3 or 4 top drawer players to become a major force in Europe.

We actually need a manager who can make the pieces come together through squad solidarity. If not, just about anyone we buy will end up disappointing.

Yup. The existing squad itself has potential for some great football.

Anybody who decides to play for Manchester United under Moyes will be in board. It's the old brigade who had too much influence under Ferguson and who are in denial about their impending retirements/departures are the ones who are not pulling their slack. It's a real pity as it will tarnish their legacy here when it's all said and done, pretty much like the stubborn Leeds players who never took to Clough's demands when he became boss there.

This belongs in the Moyes thread, but there is plenty of blame to go around - Moyes, injuries, and a horrible transition between managers. New players would only solve part of the problem. Its the manager who is responsible for getting the current group of players performing at league winning level. Without that, throwing money at new players will only lead to more disappointment when they underperform.

James Ducker has an article about Moyes and United in the Times today. Can anybody put it in the thread?

I would wet my pants if we got Reus. He's been a player I love watching for a while now.

Kroos I'm a bit more sceptical about, in the sense that I can't see him leaving Bayern, but stranger things have happened. After Vidal and Gundogan, he'd be my dream CM signing.

Vidic has been a great servant of the club, but I guess we need another CB, a Vidic of the present, if you will, and he can still make a good job in Italy. I love Vidic though :(

No idea if it's believable. But since he's quoting a radio station I suppose it's possible.

Won't that be like jumping from a frying pan into fire? Surely he'd rather stay with us than join Inter in it's current state, unless of course Inter are offering a longer deal, I'm quite sure we'd only be offering a one year extension.

That Palmeri fellow tweets a bunch of rubbish so I'd take it with a pinch of salt till theres a believable source

he s like a broken clock- he gets it right once in a while
.

Just need that Howard Nurse chap to pop up in 3 or 4 weeks and confirm it...

Vidic is very close to Inter. Seems the rumors are true and according to many Welbeck and Cleverley were partying until the early mornings in Newcastle.

If Vidic is to leave then he should be left on the bench for the remainder of the season to cover injuries. We need to get Smalling and Jones some sustained play time there. Smalling particularly.
