Not so sure plus they'd make bucketloads in the commercial aspect
That's a big factor. Rooney is United's biggest star. He's so well known in Asia for example. You need players like that to sell sponsorship.

The underrating of Rooney in this thread is beyond ridiculous. He was our best player last season and on the few who looked arsed about winning.

Yep it was the same the other night both him and Sturridge were shit but Sturridge scored and suddenly was flavour of the month

People are far to fickle and the press take some of the blame for it.

No he wasn't, De Gea was, and Mata was better in the time he was at the club. Rooney is a good player, but he's not as good as he should be (far too inconsistent), he's not as good as he thinks he is (wage/contract demands), and his attitude stinks. If someone offered £25m+ for him I'd say we should take it.

I have no idea why United fans hate him on here... You'd think he should be seen as a United great considering he is going to be United and England's all time top scorer soon.

People can't get over the attempting to leave at least once thing. And the wages.

Whatever anyone says, he's still out most influential player.

Where do people think we should play Rooney next season. I can't see a place for him.

Can't believe how much debate this Rooney tweet has caused, it's a blatant wum for a start - let's move on!!

I voted for DDG but Rooney was our best player overall. You say his attitude sinks but last season he had a good attitude, I didn't see him moan or sulk once, while most of the others did. His wages? What do you think a top player, who sells a lot of shirts and sponsorship, gets? £250k a week is more than fair.

It`s more about the fact that many people prefer RVP as a 9, or at least think LVG will, and prefer either Kagawa or Mata as a 10.

If Rooney gave an interview tomorrow in which he said he`s excited about the challenge of playing left-wing and trying to become a Ronaldo, Robben or even Griezmann level winger hitting 15-20 goals a season while playing wide, I`d be ecstatic.

But instead he whines whenever he doesn`t play centrally.

Google translation:

Piqué confirms to Del Bosque that Cesc is leaving Barca for 33 million € (assumption is that it's Chelsea). Conversation caught during pre TVE press conference.

Rumor doing rounds on twitter, by @barcastuff that TVE mics caught Pique saying to Del Bosque, Cesc told him the deal was done for 33 milion pounds.

Can this be? And could it be us? Half boner alert!

Beat me to it. The Chelsea part is pure speculation, no? Were they linked at any point?

Ha ha ha. You do realise we've already said we're not interested

I'd love to get even half a boner for this but it's pretty obviously going to turn out to be Chelsea and not us. Why we aren't trying to get him if he's available for that amount is very confusing indeed.

Its obviously Chelsea. We mess around too much for it be us.

Woodward is probably too busy watching Eastenders and Corrie.

Chelsea getting their Lampard replacement along with the much needed new striker to lead the line. Great business for them if true, slightly depressing for their rivals.

I'm gone from this topic, I get too many downers in my real life, for you to come the shut me down without mercy. Couldn't you keep the dream alive for a little longer?

Signing Costa and Fabregas before the World Cup would be a dream summer for them already. Any other signings are just bonuses after that.

If Chelsea pick up Fabregas for only a bit more than we picked up Fellaini for we might as well all f'ck off home now

It's boring as feck listening to every deal being used as ammo to berate us.

Obligatory Fellaini 27M, Messi 5er etc.

Cesc is heading to Chelski, no doubt about that.. Looks like LvG wasn't too keen on him

The only good thing about Cesc going to Chelsea is that Storey will cry himself to sleep.

ha!!! When have stories like these ever come out and the club in question in Manchester United. Fat chance.... we would have got him already if we were serious about it. We chased him for the wholeeeeeeee of last summer.
