The only actual defender they've been linked with this Summer is Moreno, I'd be worried if I were a Liverpool fan to be honest because with all the attackers they're seemingly after it looks like they're just going to go for another season of "let's outscore everyone and not give a shit about the defence".

With a top of the shop defence, they would have won the league last year. It isn't rocket science. Anyway, I hope they carry on buying forwards and midfield players.

So suddenly Shaw doesn't exist or we've not even made a move yet?

Maybe they mean he's the first player on van Gaal's "list" that we've made an approach for, whereas Shaw was one of Moyes's main targets and the club were already looking to sign him before LVG was appointed.

What are the signs of this other than a few standard "i'd love to come back" complimentary quotes when speaking to English journalists? It looks like Barcelona have made the choice to sell him not that he's sabre rattling to specifically move back to north London.

I'm not saying he won't but being asking to move elsewhere and then in subsequent interviews with the native press making empty promises about wanting to go back, all seem fairly standard fare to me.

Ask any Arsenal fan and they'll tell you he will not reject Arsenal for another English team. If Arsenal were failing to get into Europe every year (like Spurs) then yeah, maybe. As long as Arsenal have that buy back option they will trigger it if another English teams offer is accepted. They'd look like fools if they didn't.

I think a lot of people expected him to move to Barca eventually actually.

But football fans thinking that the one player they're talking about unlike all others has some special fan-like attraction and love for the club they support, isn't exactly new. Which Arsenal fans thought RVP would sign for United? How many United fans insisted Ronaldo would return because "he still loves the club". It's all nonsense, he'll make whichever decision is best for his career and pocket, he won't move anywhere to see old friends or a trip down memory lane irrespective of public comments.

You're an absolute nosh bag for posting a tweet by "United News @Mufc_info".

Why?? the guy isn't posting up his own tweets, it's not like he's pretending to be some ITK like IndyKalia, he simply tweets rumors and info from the papers and respectable journalists. Okay, this tweet happens to be from the Mirror, hardly the most respected paper but I just posted it as things were pretty quiet, plus there's that one guy from the Mirror who seems pretty clued in to what's going on at the club recently so I thought it was worth posting.

Also, no need for the insults chief. :nono:

Well, I'd love to hear his excuse if he does reject Arsenal then.

Just following Damien's orders.

I don't often agree with you, but you are dead right.

I think the clause is if any bids come in for Fabregas, Barca must tell Arsenal before accepting. Arsenal can then activate a clause which allows them to have him for £30 million (so long as he agrees to move there).

Actually i think that the clause is if Barca accept an offer for Fabregas, they are forced to accept the same offer from Arsenal.

Sport is Barcelona based so I'm guessing they've got an idea of what's going on at Barça. They did get the Thiago transfer wrong last summer, but then again, everybody did. All the press seems to be guessing.

I dont think anyone got the Thiago transfer wrong last summer, he seemed destined to move to us till Bayern got involved..

Sanchez would be a brilliant signing but I think he'll sign with Juventus especially with Vidal there.

You can't just add a huge caveat like that though. You can say the same for Chelsea (top striker), Man City (Aguero not getting injured) and even Arsenal can point to Ramsay and Walcott getting injured too.

This is the one that sounds more realistic.

Arsenal fans seemed to think they could get him at a steal of a price, regardless of what other clubs bids had been accepted, due to Barcelona being desperate to get him, and not thinking they'd ever sell him on.

Having said that, most Arsenal fans seem to think his "Loyalty" will bring him back to Arsenal, despite walking out on Barcelona as a kid, stitching them for a fee to join Arsenal in the first place, then walking out on Arsenal for the supposed draw back to his boyhood team!

De Telegraaf has been the most reliable as regards to all things Van Gaal

You are missing the point.

It's bs if it isn't Ladyman.
You should be more excited about what the Dutch media is reporting about Van Gaal's transfer targets, they have been very reliable regarding all things Van Gaal.

30 year old bastian, crocked Strootman and an unproven winger? Zipper is not coming down

You posted a daily mail link.. De Telegraaf have been the most reliable with LvG

Someone should probably make a new thread with that. Should have been given more time, things are changing etc etc.

One of the best holding mids in the world? Box to box mid with massive potential? Mats Hummels? Zipper indeed down

We don't know how Strootman will recover. Him meals would be fantastic. Can't see Dortmund letting him go

Schweinsteiger and Strootman as our central midfield targets is very risky, one has suffered a major injury and the other suffers with recurring niggling injuries. Hummels is probably the least likely to leave from Dortmund this summer, and from what I've heard on here - Konoplyanka isn't anything special. Hmm.
