Robben is one of probably only a few world class players that I wouldn't want here. Delighted that rumour has been put to bed straight away.

We are wasting our time with Fabregas again. He will only join Arsenal out of the teams in England.
The way it's being reported, Kroos has rejected us, Robben has rejected us and now we are going to bid for a player who will only play for Arsenal in the PL. So we should save our self the embarrassment and not bid for Fabregas.

If it becomes a theme players keep rejecting us then it's going to be tuff to get the world class players here.

I know it's very early on but this does have a hint of 'here we go again' about it, doesn't it? Why have we been so amateurish on these types of deals in the last year?

It's going to be worse than ever this year. We're expected to buy big and its going to be hard with a world cup ongoing, imagine this place in 6-8 weeks (after the WC) if we still haven't signed anybody.

All of that is nothing but speculation. Why do people believe what the hear on twitter is true - rather than what some Journo or worse, done random wind up merchant puts out there?

It's less than two weeks since the end if the season. The manager was appointed last week. Why do you expect transfers to be done in a couple of days?

People really need to get a grip.

It's Howard Nurse I know, but he's quoting Simon Stone, ex-chief football writer for PA.

After the Mitten piece today, in which he makes clear Kroos rejected us not the other way around, assume anyone supposedly not on the list has turned us down. Like Mitten says claiming it was our choice, or the choice of Van Gaal, not to sign these players is just United trying to save face.

I'm fecking sick of hearing about this shit list. There were 9 targets that were extremely unlikely to ever come here, and the other one was Luke Shaw. Quite why people are surprised that these targets aren't lining up to walk into Old Trafford is beyond me.

Fabregas isn't coming here. Neither is Reus. Neither is Hummels.

Thank goodness!

No Fabregas embarrassing saga this summer. I have never been a Fabregas fan anyway. I am glad he will never join us.

I warned the muppets we would not sign any of these players.

Bingo!

Or just assume nothing at all? We don't know for sure that we are even interested in these players apart from Kroos. We're now just listening to the word of the papers/twitter and using it to criticise the club.

Did Jamie Jackson not say this a few days ago anyway? Or are we all just pretending he knows nothing as he says stuff we don't want to hear?

LVG got the job because he canvassed to do it on the cheap IMO.

We wont see a big spend at all.

It will be youth, cheap buys and given most of the current squad a chance.

Is anyone else really still hoping for Ander Herrera? Technically gifted, fantastic passer and is actually capable defensively. He's proven this season and the last he can play any position in a midfield three - be it the box-to-box runner, the deep lying playmaker/anchor, or the furthest as a quasi-#10. He's very mobile too, he's a bit like a more adventurous Carrick at his peak. Place him next to a destroyer like Strootman whom we have been linked with and the midfield will be fine.

Fabregas was never coming here anyway. Not many top class midfielders left now.

We didn't need any new players, just a new manager. Apparently.

Let's take a look again at the list of players mentioned as potential targets:

Reus, Cavani, Kroos, Shaw, Robben, Muller, Vidal, Carvalho, Fabregas.

Only one name on that list was attainable.

We've let go of Ferdinand, Vidic and Giggs already and look to be spending 27-30M on an 18 year old left back, if we're trying to do it on the cheap then we're making a pathetic attempt at it.

Herrera and Strootman would be a more sensible and realistic targets. As would somebody like Sanchez to add some much needed pace with Barcelona apparently listening to offers.

 Meant with utmost respect, but these are really exciting times for a newbie Redcafe transfer window virgin like me. Watching reputed battle hardened veteran Caf posters throw caution to the wind and bricking it over a couple of tweets. So this is what muppet season is like in full flow. Looking forward to an entertaining three odd months ahead. :D

Negative news = Must be true
Positive news = Dont get your hopes up, angling for a new contract etc?

Sounds tiresome to be some of you lot

I don't think a single person believes that so it's a pointless quote. After spending £70m on players last year, we didn't need just new players or just a new manager; we needed both. Anyone who believes otherwise is a moron.

On the bright side, all of these fantasy targets are getting ruled out early on. So now, we can spend the rest of the summer chasing more realistic ones, unlike last summer.

Did Jamie Jackson not say this a few days ago anyway? Or are we all just pretending he knows nothing as he says stuff we don't want to hear?

Jamie Jackson had a very low hit rate in transfer stories up to now imo. It'll take more than a couple of very confused successes to change my opinion of his reliability.

For example, Jackson also said we're no longer favourites to sign Shaw. Yet Ogden says the deal is practically inevitable. Who do you trust in that scenario?

And that would be a fantastic summer, if you ask me.

Well Shaw seems somewhat obtainable and Carvalho has a semi-affordable buyout clause but it seems he was a Moyes target.

And that would be a fantastic summer, if you ask me.

Well we need a CB you would think, the 3 we have now our all perennial injured.

If some of you are worried about not qualifying for the CL next season, don't be. We will finish in the top 4 with what we have. Van Gaal alone will make sure of it.

The Glazers realize this, and will not spend the money. They sacked Moyes so that they wouldn't have to spend. van Gaal is not a transfer muppet, he loves to make something out of what he already has. As far as the Glazers are concerned, they saved themselves 150-200 million with Van Gaal.

Heard Jonathan Wilson on the radio a few days ago saying Herrera would be a great fit for LVG's system. Talked about the similarities in style between LVG and Bielsa.

Anyone who believes that is a moron.
There have been plenty on here that have said it. I hope the Glazers are better advised. But they may want to believe the option that involves spending feck all.

I really think LVG will demand big money though. He doesn't strike me as a fool.
