Maybe, but they don't have trouble with other players. They also have ex players at the club(and in jail) who drop giant hints regarding other clubs players. I wouldn't like that, but it would have been nice to use a Scholes or a Cantona to speak to prospective signing. Zidane does it at Madrid. All our ex players are TV pundits.
Scholes or Cantona don't know who we're interested in. Zidane was Madrid's assistant manager. We perform our business discretely, last seasons balls up aside.

I haven't seen articles claiming there are crisis talks but if there are I imagine it's transfer crisis as opposed to club crisis, Woody doesn't seem like he could buy a blowjob in a brothel.

I doubt very much this showdown bullshit is true.

LVG himself went public and said he needed 3 weeks or so to evaluate the squad and whether true or not we put it out that LVG rejected some deals which were in the pipeline from Moyes' time while giving approval to 2.

LVG is hardly now gonna go and have showdown with Woodward over not signing Vermaelen . Maybe he might be bit worried about the Rojo and other deals taking so long but i doubt he would be having a :showdown" already. He realizes it is tough to get in major targets so late and he actually isn't a manager who throws around money and panics anyway. He is more a training ground manager than a cheque book manager.

Woodward and van Gall would be in frequent contact during the transfer window anyway.

I think more than David Gill, though his experience in the market and so many contacts across clubs helped what we are missing is the working relation SAF and Him had.

For example for the Hazard deal SAF and he decided together that they had to draw a line and not pay his agent 6/8 million pounds on top of 180k wages. Now for example if that situation arises this Window for say Di Maria will Woodward and Van Gaal have that understanding to take that clear communication to the owners or Van Gaal leave the fees stuff to Woodward in which case if he doesn't pay over the top price for X or Y target will it be seen as a snub by Van Gaal ?

I don't think Van Gaal is the type of manager to have a showdown over not paying over the top prices as long as he is backed sufficiently and he decides the targets. If he cannot get who he wants which would be quality players suited to his system and balance of the squad, he will work towards improving what he has.

Sometimes I question insider knowledge, but I think that fact Woodward has not made a single Van Gaal transfer happen is quite telling. The famed list? Not a one.

I've no idea how we're targeting players but I definitely agree Woodward's lack of contacts, in contrast to Gill, is hurting us in the transfer market.

Rojo seems close. Vermaelen is the only other one we know about.

Who else does LVG want ? And when was his list given ?

If true, this deal will be concluded within 2 days. That's how proper clubs get shit done.

... When buying players nobody else is interested in. Really complicated that...

Then Gill should step in and help ED, LVG should assist him as much as possible, because the Glazers hired a man who clearly is not up to the task.
Then once the season gets more underway we can look into getting a DOF, but Ed is floundering.

Unless they wanna pay the 36/42 million euro release clause or close to it, don't think it would be a easy deal this late. He is a crucial player for Atletico.

He isn't really a Pep type defender either.

Apparently before Van Gaal returned from the World Cup. This list had alternatives to first choices supposedly.

Van Gaal has clashed with a DOF/Sporting director who thrust decisions on him at almost every past club. Doubt he will want that unless it's his own man who can contact the owners directly.

That list had Herrera and Shaw too presumably then. At most it would have had 1 more player but i doubt very much given what he has said after taking over that he wanted to make wholesale signings before taking over.

If he did then he wouldn't have asked for 3 weeks squad evaluation time etc.. after taking over. I am a bit confused as to what is happening behind the scenes as the signals Woodward gave were different but i think they both are working on different timelines and tracks till now.

Because it's different at United. A manager here gets a free pass and chooses the target, like Van Gaal always wanted. At Bayern Munich and Barcelona the DoF had a lot more influence and forced player on him. If we'd get a DoF he'd be more like what City have in that Txiki Bergiristan, who tries to fullfil the wishes of the manager.

Id think he would prefer working alongside a competent DOF than an incompetent CEO

Lvg to walk after having none of his targets acquired by Woodward, fergie to come out of retirement firing us to the title in the worlds greatest comeback story.

Think we will have another uneventful week and on deadline day Woodward pulls off something he perceives as a miracle and proudly parades Blind and Rojo around OT.... as proud as an Asian man showing off a 3 inch fallus. Grand.

I don't think LVG will walk even that scenario. He will make a comment throwing Woodward under the bus if he feels like he has been real bad at best and work with what he has.
