This forum is a plethora of over indulgent masochists. Irrespective of who the quote comes from and what it is in relation to we seem to seek out the negativity in it. If its good news it must be a lie, if its bad news its unquestionably true. We would hate for Rojo to be a top target as he isn't good enough, yet when there is a hazy quote to say we won't sign him its a disaster. I'd go on record to say, irrevocably, we will sign quality before the window shuts.

"Twitter discussion thread"

I assumed the point of it was to discuss Tweets....I also said "If it's correct"
The reason the thread is full of absolute garbage is because people jump in with any trending opinion or 'news' from any billy bullshitter account. I believe the first page says something along the lines of using your brain to determine whether or not you post something. Unfortunately, not many people seem to be capable of this.

So so true.

I expect us to sign two, maybe three players before the window closes and one of them will be above 25m.

I'd only bother reading what Jan Hagen said above, not worth worrying about any other tweets in regards to the press conference.

I've got a strong feeling it is almost a Suarez situation *shivers*, "Say sorry, and you can leave".
Well yeah, people shouldn't start posting this useless nonsense in the first place though.

Just because it's a twitter discussion thread doesn't mean you'll post utter nonsense from bullshit accounts.

How am I supposed to know if it's nonsense or not?!

I don't speak the native language, nor could I translate the interview, so I'm going by what I'm reading!

I posted it because I believed it was a genuine quote! Not because I wanted to send RedCafe into meltdown! I've been on here years, I'm not that kind of poster!

Because he did an absolutely sterling job of negotiating for Fabregas and Fellaini last summer.
No, Fabregas was never a realistic target so the error was pursuing someone who was never going to sign for us - that decision to waste time chasing him was the managers. Similarly the extra cash paid for Fellaini was because we missed the deadline for the lower release clause - the attempt to buy was sanctioned too late by the manager. Just like the bids for Fabio Coentrao were too late to effectively be dealt with (decision by manager) and there was never enough time to sign Herrera first time since Bilbao always play hardball. These were all issues of timing and they were not decisions made by Woodward. If he screws it up then blame him - but stop blaming him for things that are not his fault - because that lets the real culprits off the hook.

Did you ever think to actually consider that line that these people tell you? It's more likely true that the garbage that people throw around.

"There's always these guys telling me not to be hysterical, what idiots!"

Look, the manager said already in the US that he wanted new defenders, and so far he hasn't got one. The same guy, Woodward, that told us now for months, that we can spend what we want on a player and seemingly got told by the manager that he wants new defenders couldn't get it done so far. What more do you need to know? Tell me a good explanation right now, why it could be anyone else fault, rather than

A) Woodward as he simply can't get a deal done to save his life, without taking months to prepare it
B) The Glazers being cheap and Woodward has to fight for every penny, in stark contrast to what he spouted all year?

Stay cool all you want, but there is a reason why even good, objective journalists see it as a joke that United haven't improved the squad more. In 2 weeks, when we signed an average CB and probably Blind as last resort, tell me again that it was all a knee jerk.

I meant regarding transfers. But yeah, the money is really going to be put to good use

But that wouldn't really equate to the worst chief executive then.

And we really have no idea what deals they are working on and what is happening behind the scenes

This is where is where I disagree, as the negotiator Woodward should know and be telling the manager we have no chance of signing Fab (after putting the feelers out and getting rebuffed) which we were. They both are to blame, however Woodward needs to be telling the boss, well I'm not confident on this one if he is not and start looking at contingency targets.

I post a bit of nonsense every now and then, normally something outlandish to have a laugh at though.

To be fair Shaw is probably more concerned with his inability to have dinner without offending the tabloids.

He asked the Mirror "Am I not allowed to have dinner?" or something along them lines, I love him.

It's more probable that LVG has been slow with the process of actually supplying Woodward with the names of defenders that he wants. Saying "Ed, I want defenders" means bugger all because Woodward's job is not to identify specific players. After all, LVG did say that he would take his time in assessing the squad. I wish we'd signed more players earlier in the window as well, but van Gaal came in late and the whole process was pushed back.

As Herrera took 12 months, does that mean this lad will join next summer.
Would be similar, last summer we bid 20m despite him having a 30m release clause. Now Rojo has a 25m release clause and we bid 15m... Only thing is 25m for Rojo would be ridiculous.

Could you just imagine what Ed is like at a checkout? Trying to haggle over the cost of his weekly shop.

If it weren't for Shaw and Herrera - two deals Woody had months to work on, then this window would have been far more shambolic than Summer 2013.

Arguably it still is as we were the Champions then by a large margin, our young players were stepping up and most thought 3-4 additions max would see us maintain our performance. Mainly midfield.

Now when we finished 7th, lost most of our experienced players, youngsters stalling in development, others coming towards the end and injuries floating constantly, we still haven't sorted it out. Even departures haven't gone through.

I'm glad someone agrees, it isn't naive optimism, its the knowledge that:
A. United are very, very wealthy.
B. The owners of the club are highly intelligent people.
C. Everyone is aware that the sustainment of the club at the highest level is based upon on field success.
D. Everyone and his dog knows the squad is currently a few players short of being able to compete for the Premiership and Champions League.

What do these 4 points equate to? Heavy investment.

The only thing is, all these points were the same last summer, and last summer we we're also in the UCL

That only works if the manager listens to given advice. And Moyes listened to so much advice last year didn't he. If the advice is given and ignored then Woodward has to continue the chase even if he knows it's pointless. I just think everyone is gunning for Woodward because he's the easy target.
