What do we think the probability of securing Sanchez? Would be an excellent signing.
Hard to say, to be honest. We've only been linked with him via a few articles by crappy news outlets trying to sell papers. But then, we didn't hear anything about Ander Herrera until the last few days so it's impossible to know what's going on behind the scenes.

Yeah, I would if thought he'd choose CL football though. It's going to be a factor when going for players in the ilk of Sanchez.

Sanchezter United

I just don't understand this logic? Why would any United fan want Wayne Rooney to overtake Sir Bobby's record?

Sir Bobby is everything that we should be proud of as United fans, and we should want him to be the pinacle at this club. Not Wayne bloody Rooney.
Oh dear - let the Rooney debate begin :boring:

I do hate all this anti Rooney business.
He's been here 10 years, had some terrific days, scored a sh!Tload of goals etc.

Yes he's played a right old game of brinkmanship to get his money, but that's the way top players do it these days, Ferdinand, Keane etc, and they're still treated as legends. Schmeichel went and played for City! Hughes went and managed City!

Sometimes people don't appreciate what they've gone til it's gone.

Its not even a Rooney issue per say. Personally I wouldn't want anyone to overtake Sir Bobby's record. And if it did eventually have to go, I'd want it to be a local lad who came through the ranks, who was United though and through, someone like Welbeck or Wilson (obviously not going to happen). Rooney's misdemeanors just compound the matter.

I expected a response like this. Living in the hear and now we are all a bit negative about our Wayne due to his antics over the years and other stuff, and I doubt most of us expect him to become a club legend when he retires/leaves, but I think a few years down the line we will all look back and appreciate his tenure at this club, and nostalgia will have us perceive him as a club legend, especially if he does indeed break the goal scoring record for the club. I don't know... just my opinion.

I personally have nothing against Rooney but i wouldn't mind to sell him because I don't see him fitting in next season. I would rather play with v.Persie up front on his own and Mata behind him. I think our team has a far better balance when Rooney isn't in it.

We can't just cut 20 goals out of our team. Welbeck might get his customary "bound to be a superstar one day" 5, and Hernandez is a decent impact player but we don't want to be losing Rooney without replacing him with someone with a goal scoring record

I think those days of honest players/humans are gone - look around you, Messi/Ronaldo etc all had their moments with their clubs more money/new contracts etc.. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is. I am not sure if Wilson or wellbeck will be anything different then what Rooney is now (contract etc).

I agree but I guess it depends on whether or not we replace the goals with someone else capable of scoring.

Possibly no announcement from #mufc tonight re Herrera. But you never know probably just when I sit down to watch France.

Apparantly Phil Thompson has said Liverpool have already signed Sanchez.....

Not convinced a media-lush, big-nosed, gobshite is going to be first on the list of insiders to have the information. He's probably heard it from a local journo and is trying to pass it off as some kind of ITK info.

Its like the sentence "David May reckons.....", there's only so much water that'll hold.

Because records are meant to be broken.

I hope Liverpool dont get Sanchez! That'd be such a drag

Edit: meant Sanchez
