Not sure if this is news, I was away for a few days, but seems like Benatia is well on his way to Bayern. I also checked the original report, sounds very much like a done deal IMO.
I agree, but he left himself open to blame when he made bold claims of us attacking the window like never before, ready to break transfer records and to 'watch this space'. He brought stupid pressure upon himself.
unless we saw a list of players we were after, what we've done about it, and why it hasn't happened, we have no real idea what has gone wrong.
We just have this vague, we've barely signed anyone feeling, and can't really tell if it's Van Gaal, the Glazers, Woodward, agents or selling clubs who are wrecking it.

The assumption you are making it that the issue/problem is convincing the owners to spend.
It remains to be seen anyway what is going on, and tbh I do not want a DoF at United as I don't see the point.
I think the reason most people are wanting a DoF is due to them questioning Woodwards ability to close these deals. If I remember correctly didn't Fergie and Gill have to step in to seal the Mata transfer??
I can only assume we have to blame the owners, why else have 3 managers failed to address our problems?

It depends on who you believe. Moyes has come out again and said the issue last summer was that we actually believed we had a real chance of signing Ronaldo Bale and Fabregas.
That tells me the owners must have been willing to splash the cash. Also the money we have spent since Fergie left tells me the same too.

The funniest part is how quick people are to criticise anything in our favor but believe anything that is against us. Sky Sports report that Benatia is in discussions with us? No chance it's true. Bild report Bayern are close to a deal? "IT'S TRUE! WOODWARD SCUM, UNITED MAY GET RELEGATED, END OF WORLD!".

I admit people are ultra negative on here atm after a bad start yesterday but at the same time if both Bayern and us are in for the same player, he's probably going to opt for Bayern atm. I'm guessing that's what is driving the responses you talk of.

Because We've been fecking around for many times and Bayern always get what they want. Look at Vidal thread 500 pages for possible non-story?
Benatia has been for taking for ages and Bayern seem to manage to close the deal in under 48h. LvG said a player can be signed in 24h and even though he wanted signings, Woodward hasn't brought in a defender that Van Gaal wanted and it's mid August.
If it were any other group of supporters I'd agree with you. After Hazard, Thiago, Lucas Moura, Vidal, Fabregas ... I understand anyone that doesn't believe anything until it's done and dusted. I would normally say, until it's on the United website, but Ramsey ...
Whilst this is certainly true the real depressing thing is we finished 7th last year and after over 3 months since last season, our squad moves have arguably left us worse off. People say there's still time etc but we should have had reinforcements bought and prepared for yesterday.
Fans having meltdowns on here and journalists making up transfer rumours etc are the least of our worries.
The thing is, whichever way we do business, it's frustrating for us all.
When we were briefing the press on our targets, and all these leaks were going about, it was frustrating when targets were going elsewhere, but we knew stuff was happening and we knew we were making moves in the market. Now we're back to doing things in utter privacy, we have no idea whats going on, the leaks have stopped, as have the briefs, and we're left with vague tweets and conflicting foreign reports on things, all whilst looking like we're doing nothing at all to bring players in.
For all we know, we might be on the verge of several huge signings, we might have deals all but tied up pending medicals etc. We really have no idea at all. I personally just can't see us doing nothing at all to address the problems we have in the squad. We may get some great signings, we may get some good squad players. Just have to wait and see

If you did either, combined with the wretched display we served up yesterday, you'd realise that Blind would be a very useful addition to our squad.

I agree. I think a few on here fail to realise that it isn't only the world class muppet dream targets like Vidal and Di Maria that would strengthen us atm. I think Blind would be a good addition to the squad. I just wonder whether LvG just wants players to strengthen the first XI atm.
I'm surprised at how fussy everyone is despite the fact we're so shit in the market. The City/Chelsea way of going about their business seems to have deluded people into thinking you can only be successful by signing the best players in world football.

Vargas to Arsenal has been been reported for motnhs by various sources, wouldn't be surpised. Anyway they can have him, not too bothered with him, doesn't strike me as a very good player, atleast not the top striker they need.
