Didn't United deny interest in Benatia yesterday?

If so, don't get too worked up about him going to Bayern, was probably on the cards before yesterday's news if that happens.

Doesn't really mean much, we've denied everything this summer & would've only admitted Rojo interest because it's all public already.

The only good thing about having another farcical transfer window is some fans will finally realize the propaganda bullshit that comes out of the club. Its so annoying to see people fall for it year after year and then are left scratching their heads when we miss out on transfer target no.162.

DONT believe anything transfer related with us until you see them holding up our shirt next to Woodward or the manager.

True.

Either way, sounds like anything Benatia related should be sorted soon enough.

Interesting fact; If we sign Benatia, he will the first ever Manchester United player to go to AFCON during the season. (unless I'm mistaken).

Eric "so good they named him twice" Djemba Djemba

You mean Eric "so crap that if you didn't say his name twice nobody would remember it" Djemba Djemba.

Don't buy stuff then, go to games make sure you have had plenty to eat and drink before you go in. Don't buy their food. That will make the sponsors edgy. Get your shirts, if you buy them elsewhere, it's cheaper anyway. While people are spending millions in the Megastore all the time, the owners don't give a damn.

To be honest I've never purchased anything from the Megastore, but I get your point.

Only problem is that it will take years to have any real impact if at all. The day trippers coupled with our worldwide fanbase will make sure the Glazers pockets are lined when it comes to stuff like merchandise.

Failing to make the Champions League in the next year or two is likely to have more of an impact, especially as we would loose a lot of the Adidas money should we fail to get in to the top 4.

I can't even imagine the outrage if we don't sign anyone before the window closes, we really cannot afford it. Though it's looking like a very real possibility day after day. Get your shit together, Woodward.

There surely has to be a valid reason for why we havent heard anything. I find it hard to believe every leak/source can be this effectively blocked.

Why? It's hardly as if everyone involved at the club will know our transfer dealings etc.

You're getting paranoid.

We have plenty of money, we're just not loose how we spend it. Like a wise man once told me, "You don't get rich by writing a lot of cheques".

You're not the first one to have told me that .

i dont know what to believe anymore  a part of me says that we will sign some players in the coming 2 weeks and the other part is telling the first part what an idiot he is

We're just a joke in the transfer market, no two ways about it. Even if we sign di Maria or Vidal until the end of the window, there's just no way we should have headed into the new season with virtually no replacements. fecking woody. Just give him his old job back and get someone competent in charge or transfers because Woodward clearly has no clue what he's doing.

We need a Director of Football.
I agree, but can you see Woodward going along with this?
It'd be like a Govt. minister who's got too much on their plate, but when it's suggested that he/she would benefit from some assistance they'll fight tooth-and-nail to avoid someone being drafted in to help shoulder their workload as they feel any sort of interference will dilute or denude their authority.

Surely no other club has as many rumours attached to it than us.
I feel like the other big clubs are more transparent in their transfer targets so they dont get silly rumours attached to them all the time.

We might not even be in for half of these players, but because of a lack of transaprency, it looks like we are continuously missing out on targets. Whoever is in charge of Marketing at United will surely know about thr ridiculing from rival fans and the discontent from the fans that shows through social media. Communicate that to people higher and stop the fecking rumours.

Interview Question: Are you in for [Player Name]?

LVG/Woodward Answer: We are looking at a few players, we will see.

= United fail to deny rumour that could be untrue.

Now if the answer was something like this..

"We are only looking to get a left footed CB and a combative CM if available. All the other positions are filled"

That would get rid of about half of our rumours over night.

I know the feeling. It gave me a little hope when van Gaal said he'll talk to Woodward about things, but i just get a mental image in my head of van Gaal going into Woodwards office and talking to him about transfers, and all the while Woodward is sat on his chair playing a handheld computer game just nodding and giving random uh huh's whilst not really giving two sh*ts about whats being said.

Lets just hope he's hard at work getting some decent players in. He can't do an interview saying we're not afraid to break our transfer record again whilst penny pinching at every opportunity

It's not about transparancy, there aren't many teams who talk about transfers with the press.
Rightly so, in my opinion. If you commit publicly to wanting to sign a certain player, your negotiation power decreases even more.

There is no right solution in this case.
Due to the situation we're in, agents know they can use Man Utd's name to increase their players' reputation or negotiated wage/fee. Everyone knows we need new players in quite a few positions. It's more credible to link Man Utd to your player to attract interest than linking for example Real Madrid to another winger now.

Same goes for the newspapers. They get those stories from agents and are happy to print it, knowing most of us are that desperate for signings that we'll want to believe it or at least read it.
It doesn't mean we're constantly missing out on players. That was the case last year when Utd was 'transparent' in their Fabregas interest.
That was a lot more embarassing imo

I'll be honest, I'm going off this chap

 We have come to the point where he has made good case to be among the banned twitter accounts. He has covered all bases till now and though he most of the times just relays news from different Italian newspapers, I don't think what he had tweeted a month ago and say in last week is any different. Just ends up frustrating us here.

Im saying name the positions not the players. We have been linked with Players in almost every position.

It's glaringly apparent that the senior management have neither the skill nor will to compete for the players we need. Consequently I don't see us making the top 4 this season. Woodward is an embarrassment to this great club and I can't see anything about that changing in the next two weeks. Rojo will probably be our only signing and he's pretty average.

We are exactly where we deserve to be. Nowhere.

I'm out.

Thank god for that.

Can people go and express their outrage, disgust and embarrassment in a thread that isn't for transfer related tweets?

Journalists need people to click on their articles, so they continue spouting shite on Twitter. They know they have a loyal cottage industry of desperate United fans who will follow every word they say. Sad times.

I liked him a lot more when we were definitely signing Vidal

What do we need a director of football for? Are people questioning LVG's ability to sign players? If Moyes was in charge then I can see why we might question his but LVG isn't the problem with our lack of signings, it's those above him

DoF would be doing Woodwards job and not LVGs is the thinking

Yeah, can't see the Vidal transfer happening now. We'll end up with a near-useless backup option (like Blind) that won't strengthen us one bit.

Only we won't because Van Gaal has already made the point that we don't lack depth whatsoever and it's quality starters that we need to sign so signing a squad player is completely useless.
