Indeed. If you were in the players position... you could move to the best team currently in Europe. Or you could move to Manchester United who aren't even in Europe. We could offer more money but any player with ambition would go to Bayern in those circumstances.
Don't buy stuff then, go to games make sure you have had plenty to eat and drink before you go in. Don't buy their food. That will make the sponsors edgy. To be fair, i'm pretty sure we'd have had at least one of Kroos/Fabregas if David Moyes was still in charge of the club. I'd consider them to be elite players.
What makes you sure of this? Kroos was always going to go to Madrid once they become interested and Cesc would have still properly choose London, Jose and UCL football before joining Moyes etc

I just think we had it all lined up and ready to go when the Summer began we'd have gone straight in for them to get em wrapped up quickly. Madrid wasn't interested in Kroos initially either so we could have wrapped it up quickly. Fabregas we were after for ages and i'm pretty sure I remember reading at the time that he stalled talks with Chelsea until he knew we weren't interested (whether he would have used us to get better wages at Chelsea who knows). But we were definitely in for both with Moyes in charge and he'd have been eager to recruit quickly and early.
I'd take them, they are better than what we have and we need to stop pretending the best players would sign for us over other top clubs. They are both solid players at a good age.

But they will. Smalling, Jones and Evans are as unreliable as they come and can't keep fit. Blind was dutch player of the year, and is coming off a good world cup. They would be underwhelming as the board keep telling us we can sign the best players no matter what the fee, but if we go into the season with what we have now it's only going to get worse.

As we seen yesterday, our midfield isn't even top 10 never mind top 4. Blind and one other would go some way to helping that. Fletcher is finished and Carrick's past his best too.
Oh I agree our midfield is shit. But he wouldnt be enough to change that. I wouldnt be against this signing at all if we used him as a squad player and signed a worldclass player as well.
Doesnt look like it and I don't want him as our only solution to that woeful CM we have.
