Waiting on Vidal fair enough.

But we needed defenders and could sign Di Maria who has been on the market for weeks now. We haven't learnt our lesson from last season it seems.

We'd have signed Vermaelen if Barca didn't come in late and give Arsenal the option to sell elsewhere and we'd have Rojo wrapped up by now if Doyen handled the whole thing better with Sporting.

Why did we leave it so late to try and sign vermaelen? And we should've known about the third party stuff. Bullshit excuses.

Maysie is a legend on MUTV...."watch this space" and just sat smiling. Presenter didn't have a clue what to say

We had a month to sign Vermaelen before Barca came in. Worrying if the club can't do a deal like that.

It's not kneejerk. We just haven't learnt our lesson from last year it seems.

If the reports are right, we negociated for months and Arsenal demands were unacceptable (swap one of our CB)

When Arsenal don't want to sell domestically we can hardly do anything to hurry them up if there's other buyers overseas waiting in the wings where they'd much rather see him go can we?

We obviously will have known about the third party stuff, the problem is with the third party & Sporting, nothing on our part.

Well we picked the wrong targets then

If we can't a player then just move onto the next target.

We fecked about with Fabregas for most the summer last year and look what happened.

Fecking love Maysie. About time someone on MUTV actually said something other than we have a decent squad and we believe in youth. Bullshit.

Realism has set in for me on the signings front.

An elite player like Vidal or Di Maria isn't going to touch United with a ten foot pole in our current state. It's too much of a risk with their career. They're not going to give up playing in the Champions League with team-mates like Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Pirlo and Pogba. You think they'll drop that and play with players like Young, Fletcher and Fellaini? Not a prayer, and we don't offer oil money wages to even tempt them into giving us a second glance.
Maybe they will to play with players like, Rooney, RVP, Mata, Herrera, Januzaj.

There are other defenders in the world than Vermaelen and Rojo.

You want to buy a top defender, invest in Hummels, Benatia, Mangala (ship sailed) but there are busloads of other good defenders out there: Lovren (we let him go to Liverpool), Rami (not even shown a shred of interest despite him in the end moving for just £3.5m to Milan), Alex (transferfree), Marquinhos (not shown any interest either), Manolas, Semih, Mirranda, Godin, Boateng, Garay, Mussachio, Laporte, Subotic, De vrij, BMI, Vlaar etc...

If you need defenders and you have money there is plenty out there to buy, not just Vermaelen or Rojo !

If we don't sign some world class players in the next 2 weeks, I worry for us this season. 7th place is likely again. And this is not purely a reaction to today, it's been my feeling for weeks and weeks. A lot of fans got carried away with pre-season, which mean't nothing, as shown when the real business started today. We are Manchester United and we should not have teams like Swansea showing up on our patch and knowing exactly how to win.

You should apply for a job at Utd. We need a man with vision like yours.

He's not that bad and as LvG said they are not playing his system to the standard he wants. Surely it would be a good idea to bring someone who know how to play it.

He's not that bad no. He's also not that good though.
Nothing to bring us forward. A squad addition at best.

Would love to see that and what he said about us penny pinching.

More or less:

"We seem to be only club worried about a few million..."
"Barca, Madrid etc just had over a cheque and tell the club fill it out...."
"There are players in that pitch who just do not perform..."
"Vidal etc....just pay the money and be done with it. It's simple"

Correct.

To say people got carried away is an understatement.

Swansea lost 3-0 at home last week, pre season means nothing.

Agreed. I we can't manage to sign a crocked Wenger reject, without knowing when to move on, I fear for Edward's prowess and our season.

And that on MUTV. fecking class. Thanks.

David May seems to talk a lot of sense.

Woodward needs to be binned ASAP or at least taken away from transfer responsibilities. The second coming of Kenyon, he is.

So he'll panic buy after two bad results. That's the United way.

And end up paying more than he needed had he not tried to penny pinch, earlier in the window. Fellaini's transfer could well be typical of the way our clown CEO operates.

He's right, money doesn't matter when it comes to improving the team. 50m, 100m, 150m who cares as long as you get the player? That is how teams like Real Madrid manage to stay at the top and we should be doing the same. Value in the market rarely exists any more, you just need to splash the cash when it matters and do whatever it takes and spend whatever it takes to get the player you want.

This concept never existed

And yeah we should pay and stop negociating for nothing since we always end up paying what the seller club wanted.
We need Di Maria he wants to leave Madrid that should be easy, while for Vidal it's an other story.

It's the reason why I never believed in the "war chest" in the first place. Our owners don't want to spend
