Most of the points have already been answered by the less hysterical posters on here. But we have won the PL five times in the last 8 years. Please tell me how many times Chelsea the big money spenders have won it in that time. Please tell me Real's record of titles in the last 12 years with all their Galacticos compared to United , please tell me how many times Chelsea and City have won the title in their entire history - we have won more titles in the last 8 years than each of them in their entire history. Spending money is the only way to satisfy the spoilt hysterics.
We have had one poor season because our manager was completely out of his depth and all the spoilt fanatics go into hysteria

This club will soon be back on top and certainly doesn't lack ambition
The days of the PSG Monaco City oil money clubs will slowly come to an end due to FFP , and it is the well run clubs like United & Bayern who will benefit from this

Who are the two teenagers, Shaw and ? , as for letting our experienced players go on a free , they were at the end of their contracts and getting too old

Not really relevant as City and Chelsea were totally different clubs before they had their money injection. Chelsea and City didn't have the money to be as ambitious as they are now. On top of that United was a powerhouse under SAF, Chelsea and Citys ambition first of all was to compete with us and with SAF here that wasn't easy but they accomplished it, their second goal was to eclipse United in the league and since SAF retired they have achieved that aswell. We may have won more than both clubs but we were also in a position were that was to be expected, yet we have let Chelsea and City grow in the league to an extent were they aren't considered as the smaller clubs anymore but atleast as our equals and that was in a period under SAF were we should have stopped that. Ofcourse SAF was a legendary manager and his magic allowed us to remain competitive with a team that was considered not good enough to win silverware by many, unfortunatley now SAF is gone and we have to rely on the team that he has left behind we are clearley seeing Chelsea and City haven't just made up the ground in the last couple of years but have simply eclippsed us.

Ambition is not about the trophies we won in the past under a different manager, it is about the outlook on the future. Again we finished 7th last season. I agree Moyes was the biggest reason of our failed season but it is the club and figures like SAF that made the decision in the first place to put him in charge, which for me was again a sign of a lack of ambition, instead of going for a manager like Ancelotti or Mourinho. Now our only decent response on last season has been to remove Moyes as trainer and hire Van Gaal, but transferwise we are letting all the good experience go and we haven't resolved a single issue in the squad thusfar. As I said our response to finishing 7th has been Shaw and Herrera (I know he ain't a teenager, but I just meant inexperienced and not a big name) for whom we overpaid massively. This again show a lack of ambition in my book.

You really expect us to get back to the top with this squad, you really think we will win the PL or atleast be in the running for it with this squad ? If the answer is no but you expect us to be in the future, you lack ambition, why should we again accept a transitional season, why should we deffer our expectations again by one or two years ? LVG has won alot of title in his first year, he doesn't need as much time as people were willing to give Moyes (god some fans wanted us to give him atleast 3 years to continue messing aroud, talk about a lack of ambition). But he does need better players at the back and in defence, so why in godsname should we wait to get them ?

I for one do not believe this squad is good enough to win the title, I think we'll struggle for top 4 and that isn't good enough for a club like Manchester United. This season should be all about the empire strikes back after such a failure of a season, but it strikes back with Shaw and Herrera and the ambition to get top 4, not very impressive if u ask me, a weak empire, one that is crumbling away.

If we are letting him go this surely means we are signing a midfielder... Wouldn't make sense otherwise

Sell two left backs buy one, Let two CBs leave buy none.

Yes it does make sense but as proven so far everything seems to be done the hard way.

Very much hope so, he looked very promising in those 15 min versus Valencia. It think it would be a gigantic mistake to let him go if we aren't bringing any decent players in for the midfield. I rate Fellaini higher than somebody like Cleverley for instance, much higher. I know there he is a good player and LVG will make it work for him if he stays, would a darn shame if we chose to give second chances to players like Cleverley, Fletcher etc but not to Fellaini.

Chelsea had the money injection over 10 years ago, they caught us the first two years but we put them back in their place, out of the last 4 seasons its City 2 United 2, we'll put them back as well plus also have FFP to help. Shaw is a long term signing and investment and Herrera is worth what we paid for him. It is clear we need 2 or 3 more players and that is what the club will be working on as we discuss. It is not always easy to get players for various reasons but it will happen, we haven't a long history of buying expensive players but then we didn't need to. This club is run as a business not a hobby for some oil sheikh. We will be at least top 4 this coming season and a couple of good signings will see us challenging

Fellaini definitely has a decent player hiding in there but I think the team would have to play to his strengths. Cleverley though wow I just don't see any hope for him being more than what he is now. He doesn't tackle, doesn't score, rarely assists, only 1 good pass out of 20 that is over 4 feet, has no real pace and at 25 years old just oozes mediocrity. At least Fletcher gives us 100% commitment despite his limitations.
I will be really pissed if we are not confident of signing another midfielder should he go to Napoli.

But where the feck are they ? You do agree we need them to reach our goals right ? So if we don't get them, we can complain about a lack of ambition or atleast a failure of the management can't we ?

Completley agree. Cleverley is just the embodiment of everything that is wrong with this club. Utter mediocracy kept on simply because he is an academy product and he is english.

He also had two excellent loans and a good debut season. He's at the club because the best manager of all time thought he looked a good player. Let's not rewrite history on the basis of one (very) poor season.

We must sign at least one of Vidal or Rojo over the course of next week. Otherwise, there is something very wrong with the way Woodward handles transfers. I'd be more than confident that the rest of the board will make it known to the owners that this guy just isn't cut out for transfers.

Then again, if he can pull out Vidal, Rojo and Di Maria, which is highly unlikely, then he'd be a sort of messiah to the muppets of the world. Basically, it's time to get shit done.

Two good loans at a lower level and did he really have a good debut season!?

No one is saying he is crap we are saying he is bang average and when nearly everybody looked poor last season, to be the standout of that said bunch highlights this fact completely.

Came on against City in the community shield and turned the match around. Looked really impressive in his debut season.

I 100% agree he looked good in that charity shield game. The rest of the season I'm struggling to recall.

He looks just as poor in the games I have seen him play under Van Gaal. I rate SAF as the best manager ever because of his winning mentality, his charisma and people management skills, but I don't 100% trust his judgement on players, he has signed way to many average or outright bad ones and has shown way to much confidence in players that don't deserve it and perhpas to little in certain players that deserved more. Our entire midfield situation is the product of SAF his judgement about the midfield options he has had. I think I'll never forget or get over him playing Park and Rafael over Pogba, preferring to bring back 36 year old paul Scholes, sticking with Anderson and a crocked Hargreaves for years. No I don't blindley trust his judgement in players, especially about midfielders, especially about Cleverley.

This will get some people annoyed I'm afraid, mentioned the same thing a few months back, lets just say I didn't make any friends!

He was impressive in the early part of the season until that Kevin Davis tackle, he's never hit the same heights since then. Another factor is that SAF decided to stop playing the expansive football we were playing which suited cleverley's strengths very well, this coincided with his return from injury. David Moyes certainly didn't play a system or the type of football that suits someone like him either.

From the start of the transfer window, have said we needed Shaw and a good central midfielder plus Vidal and a decent centre back, plus our best signing which we got in January already which is Mata. Thus from the start of this calendar year we have got 60% of what we need and am sure the club are doing all they can to bring in the players we need, for whatever reasons some transfers are more complicated than others but there is no way on earth that the management will allow this club not to be challenging for the title every year. Last season was a fiasco, a huge mistake was made but the club will not allow this to continue. If by the end of the window nothing has happened then there is a problem but if it doesn't the club and the players will still get my full support

Where does Di Maria fit in a 3-5-2?
It's been said several times already, Van Gaal is only playing that formation due to our lack of quality
on the wings. If Di Maria were to arrive, we would most likely see a change in formation.

If the interest in genuine, I guess LvG would want him out wide, or perhaps as a CM.
Except he wouldn't be played as a wing-back or in a midfield 2. It would have to be one of the three most advanced positions in the current system. However, signing him could mean a change of tactics where we could employ proper wingers.

Kevin Davies has caused countless injuries! I do recall this now.
So we must play to his strengths or he is pretty much useless. Van Gaal made him captain pre season and said on a live interview he will play the full 90 mins, he hooked him after 70 as he was chasing the game and being very ineffectual. Hasn't started since.
I just believe we need better than the likes of Him, Anderson and Fellaini to compete at the highest level.

Rojo/Vermaelen interest indicates sticking with 3-5-2.

Don't think Lvg wants to choose between our front 3 either.

Also i'd say Di Maria's best season has come central as well. Though he is ofcourse much better wide than our other options as well.

I wasn't too interested in signing Di Maria because I couldn't see him fitting into a 3-5-2 but if it means a change to the 4-3-3 then it would be brilliant.

-----------------------De Gea

----Rafael----Jones/Smalling----Evans----Shaw

-------------Fletcher(Vidal)----Herrera

------------------------Mata

----Di Maria--------Rooney/v.Persie-------Januzaj
