Atletico bidding for Reus? Must be fake surely, we all know he's not going there.

Complete sideways step for him. I could see the benefit for Dortmund though, selling to a club other than Munich for presumably either more than the buyout will get them or with a healthy sell on fee as Atletico are great for bringing out the best and then selling.

No definitely a spoilt fan in my opinion.

We have just lost the greatest manager of all time. All our financial power is because of SAF and he has just left after more than a quarter of a century.

A single year of poor performance in an adjustment period post SAF and people are throwing their arms up saying it is disgraceful. That in my opinion is the very definition of a spoilt fan base.

And before you say yes other big clubs have had to replace a great manager and continued to be successful but no of those were as good as SAF and none were at their club for anywhere as long as SAF.

Although his post was venting a lot of frustration why is he spoilt exactly? He has quoted our performance for a long time and not just last year. Anyone with a brain can see we did not replace Keane let alone Scholes who we had to get out of retirement. We also played 40 year Giggs centrally because he was better than what we had. We were very lucky to not only have SAF but we also had the best player on the planet between 07-09 who without I very much doubt we would have won three leagues and get to two consecutive CL finals.
Yes we have been 7th, Champions and second in the last 3 seasons so not bad at all in context but two of those, like you said had the greatest manager who I believe performed miracles from an average aging squad. Moyes failed miserably and though I believe LvG will do better I do not (along with a lot of fans) believe this team is capable of winning the Premier league let alone the CL.
To make up for the lack of Ferguson we should really be making a statement and buying proven quality players even if it costs us shit loads. The club cannot afford another season without CL which at present is still highly likely imo.
Hopefully in the next 16/17 days we can sign some quality players as I fear a long hard season otherwise.
Does this make me spoilt? bare in mind I have supported United since 1985 and although a kid it was still a long wait before that first trophy in 1990.

We ended up 7th last year and out of the CL !
Our football has looked like shit for years.
It has been years since we've had any realistic hope of lifting that CL trophy again.

But oh no we've won the PL a couple of times in the last years under SAF so everthing is good ? Where the feck is your ambition ? Manchester United is supposed to be the biggest or atleast one of the biggest clubs in the world, but right now we should already be content with a top 4 finish and a CL spot. I'am sorry but this is the club that has the biggest fanbase in the world and just signed the biggest sponsorship deal in sports ever which will make the club earn like £75m a year for the next 10 years for making their shirts and selling them. But we act like a fecking midtable team in the transfermarket and we have the squad of a fecking midtable team. We are supposed to be a top club, we have the infrastructure of a top club, we talk like a top club, we have the fans and the financials of a top club but we act like a fecking midtable team and we perform like a fecking midtable team (atleast last season).

The last time I have remembered United the way they are supposed to be was in 2008, with genuine top players, a C.Ronaldo, an attack consisting of Tevez and Rooney, a midfield with Scholes, the best centreback pairing in the world and the best manager. Nothing is left of that now, you know why because we started doing things like replacing Ronaldo with Valencia and Obertan, refusing to sign decent replacements for players like Scholes and not wanting to invest in players like Modric, Bale, Hazard and a dozen of others I could name but being content with purchases like Bebe and Owen and if we ever make a big transfer it never is for a position we need in the team (like Kagawa, Mata RVP), half the time the player fails to live up to his price tag, which happens if you spend £27m on a microphone, but hell no what fantastic business we do. In 2008 we were the best club in the world or atleast among the best clubs in the world, right now we are not, we aren't even close to Bayern, Real, Barca, hell even small clubs like Chelsea, City, PSG have eclipsed us and why ? Because of money ? I don't believe shit about that, this club makes so much money if it would want it could buy any player it desires, no the reason we we are dropping behind is because this club lacks ambition.

It lacks ambition big time, hell we get humilated like never before, we end up 7th and what do we do ? We let our most experienced players go on a free and replace them with 2 massively overpriced teenagers. Whilst watching the rest of the teams that outperformed us by like such a distance that it ain't even funny anymore, sign players like Fabregas, Costa, Mangala, Suarez, James, Kroos, Lewandowski etc but oh no we are good, because he yea you remember in the past under another manager that was like the best manager ever we won a PL title so we are like the bestest team that ever existed on the planet. Fecking hell man, stop setting the bar so ridiculously low and start expecting the things that should be expected from top clubs ! What are we just a money making machine for the Glazers, because it is starting to look like that and people are supposed to be content with that ? Jezus !

Most of the points have already been answered by the less hysterical posters on here. But we have won the PL five times in the last 8 years. Please tell me how many times Chelsea the big money spenders have won it in that time. Please tell me Real's record of titles in the last 12 years with all their Galacticos compared to United , please tell me how many times Chelsea and City have won the title in their entire history - we have won more titles in the last 8 years than each of them in their entire history. Spending money is the only way to satisfy the spoilt hysterics.
We have had one poor season because our manager was completely out of his depth and all the spoilt fanatics go into hysteria

This club will soon be back on top and certainly doesn't lack ambition
The days of the PSG Monaco City oil money clubs will slowly come to an end due to FFP , and it is the well run clubs like United & Bayern who will benefit from this

Who are the two teenagers, Shaw and ? , as for letting our experienced players go on a free , they were at the end of their contracts and getting too old

We have one 3 of the last 6 leagues without Ronaldo. For all their massive spending Real have one single league over that and Barca just one more than us. Yes that was mainly down to SAF, but he spent what he had to to continue winning.

Do I think it is spoilt to say fans should not have expected at least a couple of years transition of constantly winning from the SAF era?

Absolutely yes it is spoilt.

I actually think he'd be a decent signing for Liverpool. At worst he'd be a good squad player.
I think he'd start. I think it's one of those examples of a player who might not be up to scratch at Barca/Real but still has tons to offer elsewhere.

Song would be another Liverpool midfielder who would walk into our midfield if they bought him. As usual another week gone with no players brought in and no deadwood sold. 2 weeks left to bring in a quality CM and at least one more defender, plus sell Anderson, Nani, Hernandez, Zaha etc.

I think the other teenager he was referring to is the one that turned 25 yesterday. Classic spoilt fan rant.....probably quoting what he heard at school.

Absolutely yes it is spoilt.

2 titles since he left.

The Spanish teams I'm not really questioning what they have won as they make ridiculous money from TV rights in Spain and will never finish out of CL places as that league is nowhere near as competitive as ours. They will still spend 70-80m the next window regardless of where they finish. We are commercially rich and we also rely more on CL as league TV rights are shared equally here.
Bare in mind our new sponsorship deal with adidas has a clause saying it will drop 30% without CL football.

Transition is fine of course but a transition will require major changes not just trying to improve players who are not that good. Football is a business and if all Van Gaal needs is to get back into the CL in his first season then that is fair enough. Lets hope he can actually do that though as the teams who finished in the top four have strengthened bar Liverpool although I still believe they are a very capable team without Suarez. Our head to head games with them this year will prove vital imo.

Ok of course you are free to your opinion like all fans and some even myself at times have come across sounding spoilt by the wording of posts but at the end of day we all want United to be successful and when we have to listen to Gill for years spouting 'no value in the market' and now Woodward bragging about how much we can spend it is getting very frustrating when we see other top clubs home and abroad buying top class proven players and we seem to struggle or get embroiled in really difficult transfers.

I'm a bit disappointed United haven't just 'thrown money' at the players like Vidal and Hummels. As in, pay the clubs something extortionate just to make sure it happens. I can understand not wanting to be taken for a ride for players that aren't necessarily proven yet but with top players, we have no legs to stand on after fecking up last season and this is the cost of that.

Give Dortmund £40million and give Juve £50million+ and quit trying to worry about our 'pride'. Our pride's going to take much more of a hit when we don't make Europe again this season (which is more likely than some of us would care to admit.)

Might not be the case but it seems we're still trying to let on like we're not desperate for these players. We kind of are desperate right now, so just pay the money.

Too much discussion over things that have their own threads.

Try stay sane.

The whole thread is one massive clusterfeck. The ultimate megathread.
The biggest thread outside of the General and the 4th biggest overall. It'll overtake the I Want Your Pics thread in a couple of days to become the 3rd biggest. And all of that is in little over 2 months.

Peaking at a time when we've recently been briefed to move away from mega-threads. It's a bloated monstrosity, which should be killed with fire.
