Peaking at a time when we've recently been briefed to move away from mega-threads. It's a bloated monstrosity, which should be killed with fire.

It's probably the lesser of two evils though; without this thread people would be sticking ridiculous unfounded tweets from obviously dubious sources all over the transfer forum. At least they all collect here these days.

Would you prefer the alternative of people starting a new thread for every daft rumour? Not a fan of the megathreads really but to me this seems a more self-contained form of nonsense, which is something given what a state the forum is at present.

Bild are saying Bayern want a centre half given the Martinez injury.
In fairness, Pep does seem to think that any central midfielder with an idea of how to defend can play centre half. I was half expecting them to be linked with Mascherano.

They've Badstuber, Dante, Boateng, Lahm (who can play anywhere it seems). Losing Kroos and Thiago they need a new midfielder.

Badstuber is still injured. Lahm has never played centre half in his life. They signed a left back (Bernat?) Wouldn't surprise me to see Alaba in central midfield cause that is his natural position.

I'd say 90%+ of the daft rumours posted in here are about players who already have dedicated threads in the transfer forum. I wouldn't have any problem with them appearing as posts in those threads. The new info (however daft) an take the discussion off on a new tangent, which is no bad thing. As it stands a lot of them are being posted twice, here and in the dedicated threads. With subsequent discussion taking place on two fronts. Which is mental.

That % could well be wrong, mind you. Either way, this fecking aberration of a thread would be a lot smaller (and traffic more evenly distributed throughout the website) if posts about players with existing transfer forum threads were restricted to those threads and this was reserved only for posts/tweets about players with no thread already dedicated to them (and only when the discussion/information isn't robust enough to justify starting a new, dedicated thread)

No chance members would be able to make such distinction and post accordingly. It would lead to further chaos, how this thread was suppose to function was simple enough and was decently followed at times, recently this has become a mess of a thread with either Woodward bashing or precious backing. Anyway back to tweets, reus to atletico is a bizarre rumor.

Most of the points have already been answered by the less hysterical posters on here. But we have won the PL five times in the last 8 years. Please tell me how many times Chelsea the big money spenders have won it in that time. Please tell me Real's record of titles in the last 12 years with all their Galacticos compared to United , please tell me how many times Chelsea and City have won the title in their entire history - we have won more titles in the last 8 years than each of them in their entire history. Spending money is the only way to satisfy the spoilt hysterics.
We have had one poor season because our manager was completely out of his depth and all the spoilt fanatics go into hysteria

This club will soon be back on top and certainly doesn't lack ambition
The days of the PSG Monaco City oil money clubs will slowly come to an end due to FFP , and it is the well run clubs like United & Bayern who will benefit from this

Who are the two teenagers, Shaw and ? , as for letting our experienced players go on a free , they were at the end of their contracts and getting too old
Good post. I'm all for buying the right players to strengthen the squad but time and time again we have proven we don't need to break transfer records to win league titles. Much rather be a sensible club like us that is set up to succeed for years to come then a mercenary club like psg and city who's reckless spending will most likely cost them in the long run.

Don't give those turds the benefit of any clicks. Nothing on there about him being happy or otherwise. Presser won't happen until 3pm anyway. Best bits will be all over the caf.

Yes, there was:

Van Gaal is apparently very unhappy at United's lack of purchases, and angry at the lengthening delay in the signing of Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon. Thomas Vermaelen, a target for Van Gaal, has moved to Barcelona, which hasn't helped the Dutchman's mood.

The key word is apparently though, as with the lack of quotes it's more than likely they pulled it out of their collective arses.

The inconsistency of the reporting of the Di Maria situation means I refuse to believe anything anyone says currently. Seems like everyone is taking a gamble and hoping they come out with the correct guess. What an unbelievable signing it would be, I just cannot see him in a United shirt come September.

I find it hard to believe the Di Maria rumors since most of the links till date seem to be from everywhere but England.. I know we haven't been briefing the English press anymore on transfers but all the reports on him moving to united are in my opinion planted by his agent to force PSG's hand.

While he'd be a brilliant buy for us, I just don't see this transfer happening because of LvG's 3-5-2 and our lack of CL football.

I think just today Oliver Kay of the Times said we're in for both Di Maria and Vidal.

I actually think this is more likely to go thru than Vidal.

according to an Italian tv station Italia 1, Man utd and napoli have reached an agreement over Fellaini. It s now up to the player to decide and he has been given 72 hours to do so.

If we are letting him go this surely means we are signing a midfielder... Wouldn't make sense otherwise
