Woodward must have something happening if he was in Cardiff rather than LVG's first home game

Is there any truth he was there? No photos and the only source reporting that he was there is the daily mail.

Ok but 4-3-3 with a winger either side of a striker means Rooney out of position and Mata doesn't play. So we piss off our good players to accommodate a marquee signing.

Who says you need to play a winger either side for one?
Another thing is that he can also play CM, on top of that tactically we may need to switch between formations during a game.

Example LVG made reference to the fact he switch to 4-3-3 against Mexico at the WC and won the game

Woodward has nothing to do with UEFA. The only reason Gill left the role because he wanted to get more involved in UEFA. Woodward has always been Glazer's man.

Not really, that means Mata playing in the hole and Rooney upfront.

Since when!?

Well technically it's not UEFA. ECA includes all the major European clubs - United, Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea etc.

Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has been appointed chairman of the European Club Association marketing & communications working group.

The appointment was made at the ECA's executive board meeting in Lisbon on 24 May.

There is no way LVG is going to specifically reference Di Maria as one of the best wide players in the world then proceed to play him in a narrow system. If he's buying him, its with intention of playing him wide.

More to the point, why would LVG employ him in the manner that Ancelotti does? tactically, LVG isn't close to being the same as him, and therefore, isn't going to employ Di Maria as Ancelotti does.

That has nothing to with UEFA. It's a different body.

If anything UEFA won't like this type of organization as it seem to be made by the Clubs.

Where did I say it has anything to do with UEFA ?

You edited the post and added that stuff later or else it'd have been quoted in that post.

Well yes at first I just wrote in the link but felt it had to be clarified since not many people know of ECA. Still even with that quote it doesn't suggest ECA is affiliated to UEFA.

If he was in Cardiff(which isn't confirmed) then it's fair to say that it wasn't for UEFA or ECA business(why'd an independent body meet at a UEFA event?).

Only Mail has said he was in Cardiff though, so I'm not believing it.

He got appointed to some post last season, not sure which.

EDIT: He was elected to the UEFA Executive Committee in May, whatever that means.

EDIT 2: Scratch that, that was Gill. But, quite sure Woodward has got something to do with UEFA as well.

Not quite the same, but that's what I meant.

Would love Di Maria and would be happy enough with Blind/Rojo but I'd rather we just bought one of them and saved the rest of the money if that's the best we can do right now.

Rojo seems certain. I haven't seen enough of him to make a judgement, but if he's a target of LVG's i'll trust his vision
Blind seems likely, although with Shaw & James, I don't see how many games he'll get unless its at LCB.

And if Di Maria is available, throw the fecking warchest at RM to get him!

If we're signing Rojo I wouldn't see much need for Blind especially if we bring in another CM
