He's right. The squad is lacking in key areas and feck all has been done to rectify it.

Van Gaal most likely expected us to sign a few players more during the World Cup.

I think he actually did say that.

I'm quite sleepy, but I'm fairly certain he did not. He was asked if we were ready for Saturday and he started talking about our injuries and said something like "so, it's a pity" at the end of his answer. I don't remember him ever using the words "investment" or "at the right time". Sounds to me like someone twisting his words to get a bit of attention.

It's actually amazing how far we've fallen, it doesn't seem that long ago that I was convinced we were a top central midfielder away from being complete.... well now we still need that midfielder but we've got shit options in wide areas and untested players in defence

I trust LVG to sort us out eventually though

I'm going to choose to believe Ben Fairthorne, feck the system, muppet mode engaged, can't be taken out of it, I'm spiralling into madness, hooray!

I'd say 1 midfielder, 1 winger and 1 very, very good defender would sort us out.

Isn't he that bloke who stopped tweeting because some journo called him out as a fake?

Has anyone else got a really horrible feeling we won't sign anyone else? :wenger:
Well considering we seem like we'll sign Rojo in the next few days, no. Personally have a feeling we might bring in one of Di Maria or Vidal, after the Rojo deal is done. Still feel like we'd be weak in defence though.

Wonder if he's thinking about this summer or over the past few years.

Probably means over the last few years. We knew our midfield has been a weak link over last few years, our wingers are average, and we knew that Vidic, Rio and Evra were nearing the end. This club should not be in a position where we need are out of Europe, have a new manager and need 5/6+ new players in one summer.

People shouldn't get themselves worked up over the Matt Davies tweets either, dude's a massive fraud.

not only am i shocked at the £12m for Shane Long, just found out Hull paid £7.5m for him in january

Not exactly crazy in today's market.

He's also a good player anyway so not sure why some are making a big deal about it. Southampton need to spend and he'll do well for them IMO. Will say it's a bizarre move out of the blue though. Hull in Europe, only just brought him last season too, this one came out of nowhere.

Are the Denis Irwin quotes true? Wouldn't imagine Irwin would be in the know much.

Turns out that's not quite what he meant. He was talking about the teams passing and decision making. Used the wrong English word. Go check the van Gaal thread

Yup, no one of note anyway. Probably get that Rojo. Really shocked that's it's August the 12th and we have no one else in but players are leaving at will.

It's not really shocking. Van Gaal said he will assess and decide post tour. It's been a week since then. Our signings was always going to happen late. Also van Gaal is known for non glamorous signings so us mullets probably won't get our thirsts quenched.

Jim White -
Shane Long is on the move again. £12m fee agreed to take him from Hull City to Southampton. #saintsfc #hcafc

If we don't get between £17m-£20m for Hernandez in todays market then we have been robbed.

Oh really that's quite surprising considering he's been at Hull six months. He'll be a journeyman by the end of his career. Any ideas how much Hull paid?

They're not true and even if they were he knows nothing.

Didn't he say we'd sign Cesc last summer?

Well he said we would move heaven and earth to try to sign Fabregas a while before most of the reliable journos picked up on the story, so he knew a bit. No idea if he even said anything tonight though.

It's just frustrating. There is still 3 weeks, so anything could happen, but we have had Woodward now, in both windows biggin up what we can do, but we never do it.
We needed players last season, but ended up with a last hour signing of Fellaini.
Fast forward a year and with a 7th place finish, clearly needing players, we to an extent, move backwards (Shaw a direct replacement for Evra, Herrera a good upgrade to midfield, yet losing Vidic, Ferdinand and Giggs so far)

Then there are the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, making very good signings for when the season starts, not after a few games
(I know some don't really rate the Liverpool signings, but I don't think they are bad at all, and its as much about depth as it is quality for them this window)

We have been linked with plenty of players, maybe a lot of guess work journalism, but its clear to them we need players,
