I think Barca have signed hime."we were never interested".

Agreed, sounds like we are trying to save some face by saying we were not interested again. If it's true at least it means Rafael is staying.

Wouldn't pay any attention to Cuntson's tweets, he's been talking shit all transfer window and been proven to be a bullshitter.

Couldn't even get our starting XI / bench right for one of the matches.

You are bitter, Jackson was right about Shaw, he signed for Chelsea.

I really dont take ANY notice of tweets or crap written in papers.
I never believe we actually have signed a player until they pull on the shirt and play a game, that way there is no disappointment.

:)

Not exactly surprising it came a day after Barcelona publicly say their interested in Cuardrado.
So we can't be interested too? I don't buy this argument that we're trying to save face by pretending we aren't after him. We didn't do that for Vermaelen did we? I think we just, you know, aren't interested. More than likely another saga with nothing going for it other than media bollocks, by the looks of it. Shame as I think he'd be great here.

Van Gaal hates signings. He probably wants a lean squad and promote youth.
Which is understandable and a respectable way to go about things, but we still need at least one or two more of the quality to keep the squad lean.

Me too. It both funny and sad that people talk about what they read in twitter or in the papers as if it is factual information. And that isn't just for transfers but also rumours of what happens in the dressing room etc.

It's an admirable stance if you have youth players ready and capable, but surely van Gaal realises the gaping chasm in midfield can only be rectified by signing(s) and that relying on three injury-prone centre backs, along with Blackett in a three man defence is naivety of the highest order?

I didn't expect van Gaal to make sweeping changes in terms of acquisitions as some (media) had stated, given his history at previous clubs. However, considering where we finished last season along with our loss of experience and obvious deficiencies, I did expect three signings at the very least, probably four. As it stands, I am almost resigned to the fact we won't sign another player.

I have been sharing the same frustration regarding our transfer policy in the last 5 years, in fact since Ronaldo left. Its been just enough to paper the cracks and nothing more. I am lost for words, lets just wait it out till 1st September and then voice our opinion.

Aren't Marca as good as an unofficial Real Madrid PR department?

Di Maria would do just nicely, thankyou very much. And I say this as someone with no history of muppetry.
Well, not that good, but certainly more reliable than AS.

Somewhat. They're close, so they get good information sometimes. However they're also transfer muppet crazy and link dozens of players with Madrid that never come.

I wouldn't read too much into that one - to be true it requires inside information from Old Trafford, rather then Madrid. Unless Woody told Marca they had up to £55M to spend (but ssssh, dont tell anyone)

I honestly can't remember an impressive summer transfer window. Initially, the signings of Tevez, Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson looked excellent, but looking at it now it's pretty poor. Ridiculous.

Now there's an example of another club involved in a protracted transfer saga. But United are the only ones to do that eh

Crucial thing is they actually signed him though.

We effectively get friendzoned by players we're supposed to be after.

So everyone is willing to believe the press saying we wanted him? Personally I've not believed any of the rumours about us signing him, especially with the fees being mentioned.
I really don't see us spending 40 odd million on a right back, when we are need of centre backs and midfielders so badly.

Maybay it is understandable for you but I don't get it at all. We are Manchester United, we are supposed to be the biggest club in england and even in the world, we are supposed to be competing for silverware every year. We've just signed a mega sponsorship deal that puts us in a good financial position for the next 10 years. We have been utterly humiliated in the premier league previous season, we have had a CEO telling us to watch this place and expect more transfer activity than usual, he has repeatdley said we can and will go the extra mile to land top players and we have just seen and outflux of atleast 6 players and more to come including Giggs, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra. We have a ridiculously weak and understaffed defence and an even more ridiculous midfield. But somehow you find it understandble that LVG isn't looking at transfers ?

Look I don't care what he does or doesn't do, but if he decides he doesn't need anybody anymore, than he better make sure he gets the job done with this ridiculous defence and ridiculous midfield and when I say job done I don't mean struggling for 4th place, I mean competing for the title. If he isn't near the top league and dares to even hint at the fact he lacks quality players I'll fecking rage. He better gets his transfer business done now or compete for the title with that ridiculous squad or else he can just feck off like Moyes. I won't accept another wasted season because we were too passive in the transfermarket again !
