There's been rumours that they will play 3-5-2 in the upcoming season. If they get him, I can see them line up like this:

Neymar - Suarez
Messi
Alba - Iniesta - Busquets - Reus
Mathieu - Piqué - Bartra
ter Stegen
Maybe even:

Neymar - Suarez
Messi
Alba - Iniesta - Rakitic - Reus
Mathieu - Busquets - Piqué
ter Stegen
There's no way Reus could work as a wingback. He'd need to be the #10 or one of the strikers.

Reus is not a wing-back though. That's like the United fans the other day saying if we get Di Maria he'd play in our 3-5-2 system as a wing-back.#

Would be more sensible.

Neither is Cuadrado though. His defending is atrocious.

As for Reus, who says he's a wing-back in that formation? He might as well be a right midfielder. But that's up to Luis Enrique to sort out.

True, but Vidal. fecking Vidal! Can you imagine?

Even if you swap him for Carvalho, i'd have taken that at the start of the window without a doubt.

Oh, of course. Don't get me wrong, I'd be incredibly pleased with that. Even without another midfielder, we'd have strengthened and at least we got Herrera in. But I'd probably swap three other signings - Cuadrado, Benatia and Shaw, for example - for Vidal, given the choice. Because his position is so much weaker in our squad than any other, the value added is more significant.

Barca could retrain him, but that would be a waste of talent. That hasn't stopped them before though.

Could you not describe Reus as more of a wide forward though? Whereas Cuadrado is more of a traditional RM. Also, Cuadrado has apparently played as a wingback before.

Team with those players in that formation will get shafted by good teams and struggle against even half decent ones. So much wrong with it. Reus first of all is not a wing back. He is more of a forward, not even a winger. Otherwise too, the midfield 2 and that back 3 will not offer a lot of protection and will be vulnerable. For Barca, their 4-3-3 works best. They tweak around it a bit but I don't see them radically changing it for any player.

Yep, and i love that we're going for the jugular. It's like the club have recognised that last summers attempt (Fellaini) wasn't good enough and have gone for literally the best possible solution. No messing about. Last summer the whole attitude was 'He won't wanna join us, let's go for realistic targets.' This summer the mood, despite no CL seems to be 'We're Manchester United. Why the feck not?'

Could argue it's quite indicative of the respective managers personalities. Don't wanna be 'that guy' with regards to Moyes but it appears to be true.

Thanks to all my countrymen for support in training today !!! Proud to be Chilean mierdaaaa !!!!

you were never going to sign him without me posting it. Now that my temp ban is over , let the signings commence!

Good he's listening to the Chile fans, they will tell him to cone to us. We're only behind Madrid there.....graspingn

That would be more fitting, yeah. But as I mentioned earlier, they could retrain him. I don't really see how he will fit in their team, to be honest.

Cuadrado has played the position before, but that doesn't mean he is good at it. He is not the ideal wingback in my opinion, but if LvG really wants him, I'll trust his judgment.

Not sure how some can think Neymar is better. Reus is on a different level.
What!!!!??? This is crazy talk!!! Fair enough if you think he's better but on a different level????

Neymar is an incredible talent, one of the most skillful players in the world. He basically carried his nation on his shoulders and didn't buckle under the pressure. I personally think Neymar is better than Reus at the moment and even if some of you do not agree. Neymars ceiling is incredibly high, very likely he will become the worlds best in a few years and one of the most marketable players in the world that's why you'd be crazy to take anyone over him.

I agree, but that's the only way I can see him playing in their team. The team looks unbalanced as feck. I don't really see why they're interested in him, their front trio doesn't really need changes the next 5-6 years if they all perform.

What's the point of all that if no one is brought in? Yeah the appearance might be that United is going for the "jugular", "no messing about", yet if this summer pretty much ends the same as the last, does the fact that United looked like "they were going for the jugular" make any difference? I'd think it'd make more sense to at least wait to see how the summer turns out apart from Herrara(set fee) and Shaw(overpaid) before declaring anything.

Well we know how the previous approach went. He's about 7 ft tall and resembles a mic stand.

Not doubting the quality of Brazil, but to be fair, they wasn't even that great in the world cup, with or without him, so to say he carried them is a bit much. Yes he may have scored all the goals, but it was a poor showing from Brazil in general.
I think there is way to much hype over Neymar to be honest. Very good player and all, but I do think Reus is more productive.

As for Barca, it would be stupid for them to buy him anyway, although an upgrade on Neymar in my opinion, it's not enough to justify spending big money when it could be spent elsewhere

He chose to hold the red shirt than the juv shirt. The guy at the side is like , "fecking Vidal, take the Juv shirt and pose for the camera!"

if they do start with the two defensive mids, then surely Iniesta will start over Rakatic.

Well at the start of the season with Neymar injured and Suarez suspended I imagine Iniesta will start on the left of the front 3, it'll depend on the form of Rakitic from there.

It's not so much he carried them in a football sense but he carried a lot of the burden of the expectations and he produced for them. To me that shows incredible mental strength and that matched with his talent, I think he's going to become the worlds best.

Only time will tell but I am sure he will prove just how good he is.

Barcelona playing a friendly right now, this is their team, they are all academy graduates. Beautiful!

So going on the last few pages I've just caught up on.

We're linked (by reliable sources) to Blind, Benatia, and Cuadrado. I'd be over the moon if we got them 3, Vidal too perhaps? Would be a mental transfer window!

Wonder if Woodward is going to give us a Herrera and Shaw type deal, but 3 or 4 players one after the other, rather than just the 2. :D

The only places who've linked us with Benatia is the Express, every other report is referencing them.

Agreed. The mental strength Neymar displayed during the WC was sensational. Can't think of too many 22-year-olds who have come up trumps under such extreme pressure. To claim Reus is on a different level is indeed pretty loopy.

I reckon Reus would get plenty of playing time at Barca, Suarez will probably manage to get himself banned at some point, and Messi and Neymar are bound to get injured.

It was Angel Di Maria that was linked to the Express wasn't it? Not Benatia......?
