Suarez once said he'd only leave Ajax for Man Utd or Barca right? Obviously he played for Liverpool so shows how far we can take his word but it does show he has somewhat of an affiliation for Barca that wouldn't have been ruined by playing for one of their biggest rivals.

I wonder if we were trying to include Buttner in the Shaw deal to bring the price down, particularly considering they were linked with him before we signed him. If that's the case then either Southampton just weren't interested any more or we were able to get more for him from Moscow.
