What does Lukaku offer that Hernandez does not?

More goals, more presence, more strength and more importantly, more potential. He is very raw, and I do have my doubt about Lukaku's technical ability, too, but he's that bit more refined than Hernandez, and there's a reason two clubs have decided to pay exceptional money for his signature.

Tuttosport: Juventus have now made Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez their main striker target

Tuttosport is quite reliable right?

If we gave them 30m and Chicha then Vidal should be ours.

Hernandez is better positionally, has played multiple seasons in the CL and has won the PL a couple of times. His finishing is top class and is much quicker than Lukaku.

Lukaku has had one half season at Everton being an impressive physical striker. To me there is no contest Hernandez is the better player. There's a reason Europe's top clubs are after him.

Juve & Atletico, the same ones that were after Lukaku first.

Let's not be facetious here. Lukaku has the age advantage whilst also being on the same talent level as Hernandez.

The point I was making was that he is not on the same talent level. His overall play is sloppy, he is invisible when it matters and whilst he scores the odd goal, the rest of his play is terrible.

Whilst Hernandez has not progressed as we would have wanted him to, we can mostly rely on him to get a goal when we need him to. That threat and reliability is something that Lukaku does not have. Yes he is young, but there are no guarantees.

Also I am not saying that Hernandez is worth 30m, but he is at least worth 20m, to us if nobody else.

It will be incredible if we do two deals with Juventus and still don't take Vidal before the window closes.

I guess I'll wait until the window shuts before blowing my top over the possibility.

That hasn't been the case for a while.

Doubt it, just paper rumours. If Juve and Athletico the respective Italian and Spanish champions were after Lukaku they would have offered the 28m themselves. Instead Madrid got Mandzukic who is better than Lukaku and Juve are yet to buy but again Hernandez would be a better buy than Lukaku.

The former is correct. His medals aren't really part of this discussion. His finishing is good, however, it's also been very hit-miss over the past year, whereby he has missed perhaps more clear cut chances than any other player in the squad. His movement is superior to his actual ball striking and finishing, hence his multitude of tap ins. That's a compliment, by the way.

Lukaku has outperformed Hernandez in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons. Yes, he has played for weaker clubs while playing more matches, but he's still been in better form and I don't really think that's up for debate. And I say this as somebody that doesn't rate Lukaku that highly. I've never rated Hernandez that highly either, for reasons I've outlined on many occasions.

Ah so it's just paper rumours when it's convenient but to suit the other side of argument they are interested in Hernandez and that's not bollocks right? He scored 4 goals last season, is 4th choice for us & is 2nd choice for Mexico. He's not worth as much as we'd all like to think and he's not a better buy than Lukaku for a club factoring in everything.

Has it crossed your mind we might not want Vidal? There are many Juv players I'd like here but maybe LVG has his sights elsewhere. A bit harsh to blame the club if we don't sign him.

It's hilarious that some of you think Chicharito is worth 20m plus.

He's a second string striker worth around 10-12m tops.

He had one good season only.

I take it you've been living under a rock these past few years with regards to transfers

In what alternate universe is this likely to happen?

It was tongue in cheek but as Hernandez should be £20m at least and if Juve approach us for him, it's on our terms that's what I would push for. They pocket £20m and get a fantastic striker. I don't see them being too upset at that. Considering if they sold Vidal to us for £45m they'd struggle to get a striker of Hernandez's quality for less than £25m.

If we sign other midfielders that's all good with me.

If it shuts without a single further recruitment in the midfield area, then yes, I will blame the club. Van Gaal clearly wants further recruitments. I think he'll get them but I'm just sick of the waiting.

Do Juventus even need Hernandez. They have signed Morata (or be it he is injured for 10 weeks or so), They have Llorente and Tevez. Does he want to exchange one place on the bench for another!?

If I was him I'd be moving to Inter he'd have a much better chance of starting there.

Hernandez is easily worth up to 0.5 Vidal.

If we actually sold him for £8m it would be the most pathetic piece of business any club will do all summer.

Well, as a professional, you still want to win trophies. IMO, Inter will win jack for the next few years.

it baffles me ... why do we want to sell Hernandez if we are going to play a system which requires 2 strikers on the filed?
Welbeck and Hernadez should both stay.
I'm sure we'd be happy to keep him on as fourth-choice striker but it's quite likely that he wants to go.

With Hernandez up top they could well challenge. I think they will surprise a few this season. But yeah he probably has a much better chance of a trophy at Juventus than even us for that matter. I just thought his gripe was playing time.

£8m for Hernandez is some stupid shit. £10-12m too when you remember lesser players like Borini and McCormack are going for £14m and £11m respectively. We don't have to sell him, he'll get plenty of game time under LvG, and if by the end of his contract, he goes on a free, then so be it. £8m is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

RvP, Rooney, Welbeck, Januzaj will all be picked ahead of Hernandez for the two striker positions. Then we still have Keane, Wilson, Zaha, Nani as a backups.

Official: Notts County have announced the signing of former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll.

I'm surprised he's still playing.

Why does this guy who tweets this stuff get any credibility on here he just rehashes guff from italian newspapers and is a journalism student- there is one of them at my work on a summer placement ill go and ask him if were signing Vidal.

Well he translates it for a start, probably why people post him as I doubt anyone here's continuously checking SkyItalia, CdS, Gazzetta & Tuttosport. No ones claiming he's a direct source.

It really looks like we are not going to sign him now. Maybe our pre season form has impressed LVG enough not to make any more major signings.

Aggh ok the old someone can translate an article arguement. Fair doos. Suppose it has its purposes.

We haven't really been in for him yet. LvG wanted time to evaluate the squad, and he got it. Now he will offload the dead weight. If LvG truly wants Vidal, he will get him, but I think he is more keen on Strootman.
