I think Ian Wright should be phoning his wife to hell her why he's fecked off back to Brazil days after she was supposedly held at knifepoint. The tosser.

This will send the Shaw doubters crazy with those figures mentioned.

It is completely ridiculous if true. Not my money but still it looks stupid from the club to pay all these money for him when they can poach someone like Rodriguez for half that amount.

On paper, probably not. RIght now on current form Sturridge can't hit a barn door.
I think you're being a bit harsh on him. He's scored at the World Cup and he had some good attempts on goal against Uruguay. He's actually one of the few English players who has had a reasonable tournament.

Crazy money for Shaw to be fair. We'll have a great left back on our hands though but still..

I think players who aren't eligible to play for England should ring up relatives of holocaust survivors and explain themselves.

I think she insisted on rebooking his flight.

Wouldn't surprise me.. hope he gets a good reception when he returns to play at OT.

Disappointing - I hoped he'd go abroad somewhere for a laughably huge wage, rather than that f ucking circus at QPR. He'll get a great reception when he plays us though

Proves the media haven't a clue what's going on.

Looks like Smalling is passing a message onto Southampton from Woodward via Shaw himself there.

Whether it's 34 or 40 million for Shaw, I hope we back out. No left-back is worth that much, let alone a still relatively unproven teenager.

To the people saying we shouldn't care because it's not our money: No, but we can only spend so much money and whatever we spend on Shaw won't be available to get that top CB/CM/winger.

Not to mention the precedent it sets when trying to sign other players.

If we pay that kind of money for Shaw we'll need to mortgage Old Trafford to afford the price of a top CM.

Or the fact we are spending £30/40m on a left back shows the club have money and finally those owners of ours will be making amounts available to strengthen the squad.

If 40 million for an 18-year-old left-back is the alternative to our former strategy, I prefer the former. We'd be in hot FFP water, if not bankrupt, in a few years with the other.

Maybe the extra is to cover his brothel tab he's run up in Brazil. Been there a couple of weeks now.

An 18 year old who has the potential to be world class, could be our and England's left back for the next 12/14 years.. it's as much of a long term investment than it is for right now.

In the next few hours, we will announce the signing of Ander Herrera, according to the reliable Cadena Ser.

Howard's on the case. So, obviously, we're signing Sheringham.
