I think you're being a bit harsh on him. He's scored at the World Cup and he had some good attempts on goal against Uruguay. He's actually one of the few English players who has had a reasonable tournament.

If we pay that kind of money for Shaw we'll need to mortgage Old Trafford to afford the price of a top CM.
Or the fact we are spending £30/40m on a left back shows the club have money and finally those owners of ours will be making amounts available to strengthen the squad.
If 40 million for an 18-year-old left-back is the alternative to our former strategy, I prefer the former. We'd be in hot FFP water, if not bankrupt, in a few years with the other.
