Completely understandable and is the right way to go about things BUT from a completely selfish point of view all I care about is Man Utd so would be nice if LVG would say a few things regarding us though again I completely understand why he isn't.

What would you expect him to say? He hasn't even met the players yet.

No manager would make comments now. A poor performance would result in criticism - i.e. "he was more concerned with his next job than this one" - very bad move for a Dutch manager, managing the Dutch national team.

Smalling or Jones at right-back? Good luck.

That's what happens when Hodgson decides to take only 1 right back, a pretty shite right back I should add.

Neither Jones nor Smalling should ever play right back for club or country, it's a stupid situation to be in. Hodgson deciding to take an extra midfielder over a suitable back up.

Breaking News: BeIN sport are reporting Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Falcao and will be announced after the World Cup.

They were a lot of rumours last summer that this would happen. One season at Monaco followed by a move to Madrid.

Any price quoted is going to sound ridiculously high.

But I'd guess that the prices quoted is a package price and we'd pay a lot less upfront with the remaining sums being paid out depending on appearances/trophies etc.

Clutching at straws but I'm sure Southampton settled transfer payment plans early with other clubs who ended up paying less overall in the end. I definitely know it happened with the Walcott deal where Arsenal agreed a payoff £3m less than the £15m structured deal.

So for pure financial reasons let's hope if we're getting him, Southampton end up desperate to settle the deal early and shave off a few million quid.

Thought a move to the MLS might be imminent for Rio admittedly. Perfect place for a player to spend his last days in professional football, while receiving a nice pay-check. Plus, there's plenty of media exposure which Ferdinand will probably have a future in once he hangs up his boots.

And that fee is very excessive for Shaw. I've always been of the opinion that 'it's not my money' and that position is one we need to significantly strengthen, so we may have to pay a premium. I imagine that's taken into consideration wages but if not, I would hope we pursue alternatives. We may need players urgently, but we still shouldn't be completely taken for ransom and their are viable and cheaper options just as good as Shaw like Rodriguez and Coentrao.

Less chance of that now Southampton are established in the PL and don't seem to have the financial troubles they had.

I'd guess that's the overall maximum value of the transfer if we win the CL three years in a row and Luke Shaw also becomes the WBO, UFC and WWF champion during the time here.

The Luke Shaw deal has crossed the borders of ridiculous.

I'm not an expert on their finances but didn't one of the new execs say they were in a difficult position when they took over roles in March?

From what I know they still owe 25-30m in transfer fees from their previous turmoil but the club has restructured and set-up themselves up to be able to deal with it and ensure the same situation doesn't occur. The Shaw transfer will cover the debt and they have plans in place to ensure they won't be desperate for cash.
