Where are they getting the Frank Lampard stuff or the bit about signing a number 8? I don't see it.

The quoted parts in the article seem perfectly fine, just trying to stick-up for Fellaini a bit.

Didn't Fellaini or Moyes declare he'd be best utilised as a holding player when he signed? And now Moyes states he thought he was signing a no. 8? No wonder Fellaini flopped, Moyes hadn't a breeze what he was doing with him.

The Lampard stuff is a WUM and the number 8 thing is pretty accurate since he only talks about Fellaini attacking and technical abilities.

Moyes has got himself a summer job. Surprising really that he's happy to work with Keys, because he criticised him quite openly and unfairly about his handling of Rooney on the morning of the Swansea game last August, probably the biggest day of Moyes' career.

Well, yeah, that's another perspective.
Basically, most of these recent articles can be boiled down to: 'Chairmen, please don't write me off just because I failed at United'.

True. In fairness most people would do the same if they'd just been sacked. Wouldn't be advisable to talk about how he failed and the job was perhaps a level above what he's capable of, it's all definitely a PR exercise I agree but I don't think he's hung Fellaini out to dry or anything like that.

Moyes said in september that Fellaini, didn't have United level, yet. And that he wasn't supposed to be a first teamer. I really think that deep down Moyes doesn't rate Fellaini a lot, he thinks that he can be a good player and that's it.

Would be a fair comment and is probably backed up by the fact he didn't start every game for us, he had injury problems but even when he didn't he was a sub a fair few times. I think Moyes rates him, if he didn't he wouldn't of been a regular at Everton and I seriously doubt he'd of signed him for the money he did.

I think all that the Belgian players have been telling the media is true, we've been misusing Fellaini.

He has specific strengths, and crude as they may be, Moyes could have still used them to make a difference in certain games but Moyes didn't he have the guts to use Fellaini like he did at Everton as a #10 battering ram.

As much as we cringe about his style of play, I'd rather have had us use like that and help turn a few games around than watch him be inept in a role he was struggling to adapt in. Moyes of all people, having worked with him for so long, should've known what type of a player Fellaini is and what to expect from him.

"He has brilliant fitness, a brilliant attitude. What we saw him do against Algeria was what I brought him to Manchester United for."

Moyes never used him like Wilmots did in that one game the entire season as far as i can remember!

Belgium played Fellaini as a CM the other day as well where he was at his ineffectual best. He made a decent Andy Carroll like impression in attacking midfield the other day but when he starts he plays in central midfield for Belgium.

Why? He's been quite poor whenever I've seen him, and my Real supporting mate hates him.
Can't say I've seen much of him at Madrid. But he was always impressive when I watched Sociedad in the 12/13 season and he had a good tournament with the under 21's.

He probably rates him but not as a potential top player, if the rumours were true at the time, Moyes proposed 16m £ for Fellaini. The 27m price, was due to the panic purchase syndrom, if we had sign only one player, i'm pretty sure Fellaini wouldn't have been a United player for that price.

If you're referring to the Russia game, then no, he didn't play CM. He played behind Lukaku.

So you're advocating playin him instead of Rooney, Mata or Kagawa behind the striker and playing a more direct style, just to get the best out of Fellaini?

Nope, I'm advocating the use of him in the last 10 minutes of a game as a #10 when Rooney, Mata and Kagawa's finese and fine passing has failed to make a difference.

The reason i mentioned playing Fellaini from the start is because Moyes claimed he got Fellaini in to play in the role he did vs Algeria, which i never saw him do at any time last season..

Terrible headline for that Moyes on Fellaini bit. False and misleading.

Surely if anyone should know what Fellaini was like it would be the manager who bought him to England and played him for several years?

I thought De Bruyne played behind Lukaku?

EDIT: Just remembered that De Bruyne seemed to play deeper than Fellaini.

Moyes really is a bellend!

He also said that Fellaini is not a number 10, nor is he a midfielder that can play in front of the defence.

THEN WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SIGN HIM FOR?!?!?!

This has left me wondering what Fellaini actually is. Does anyone know?

Still trying to figure that out....

By all accounts though, apparently the guy is absolutely loved within the squad......The barman in Marbella also really loves him. He spent a lot of time with him during his wrist injury

He is a DM who can't defend, a box to box with no positional sense and a 10 with DM technic. Overall he is a decent player, not really useful for a top team.

I dont think we ever played to his strengths though. We bought him and expected him to fit into the Man United ethos of fast, free-flowing, counter-attacking football but thats just not his style. It was never destined to work out and he'll be taking a significant step down if/when he leaves the club.

I dont expect LVG will accomodate him in any system he plays.

Yeah it was such an odd move. Play your most influential player deeper, who by the way looked gassed in the last 20 minutes due to the role he was playing in...
