Fabio Cannavaro.

Vieri played for Atletico in his prime.

Albertini, but he was close to retiring at the time.

Vieri, Carboni, Zambrotta, Cassano, Pannuci, Coco, Rossi.

Cassano and rossi also. I don't consider rossi top class though but he was a very good player. Pannuci was good too.

Not a great list of world greats or top-class players that played there, or top-class Italians that played there in their prime to be honest. Cannavaro is probably the best of that bunch do you think?

You could probably ask the same question about top-class Spanish players that played in Serie A & get the same results too..

Guardiola.

We haven't been linked to him this window. Sounds like a come and get me plea to LVG.
Sky Sports did a weird stunt back in May, they published a story saying McCarthy was LVG's "top target" according to "Sky sources", then deleted the story a few minutes later.

You must have missed his debut doing punditry on Sky for the United - City game. He was wicked in every sense of the meaning..
No, I saw that, he may have said some reasonable things but he's such an uncharismatic guy, just sat there mumbling in a low voice looking like he couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. He's not made for the camera.

Well, generally, Italian players aren't too keen on playing in Spain and vice versa. Might be due to the differing philosophies of the two countries.

He would be a class signing and someone who can massively improve under Van Gaal.

Not sure we have been seriously linked with him though.
Agreed. Although I don't necessarily think we're interested in the players we are linked with. Basically, the media seem to know feck all.

If McCarthy has said this, then maybe he knows about interest we don't.

True. Also a plus is he's played in a 3-4-3 for Martinez in a few games. So he'd come in already being familiar with the system.

Even cannavaro was past his best when he played in la liga, which was a pity as a few months earlier he was brilliant at the world cup.

Bloody Fellaini might have it if he ends up at Napoli.

Bebe's already secured CL football.
Buttner too, right?

With a wee bit of luck and if he tries hard enough even Moyes might be in the CL next season ...

Franco & Mussolini's fascist philosophies, fascist / racist fans football fans..

There's a lengthy list of similarities between the 2 countries..
..that s a sweeping statement. Not all Spanish fans are real Madrid fans and not all Italians are lazio fans...
