So its a matter of who is closest to United and has the better contacts Andy Mitten or Daniel Taylor then? Personally Id listen to Mitten first considering he is the only journalist to get close enough Ed Woodward to actually interview him.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Mitten runs a fanzine, the vast majority of what they said will have been said off the record. Woodward has no reason to brief Mitten, whereas he does with Taylor, a journalist with a lot more clout on the game. The UWS was a nice, approachable gesture from Woodward, but he has zero benefit from revealing major plans to Mitten. It's actually a part of his job to inform the likes of Taylor.

And wasn't the interview part of a period where Woodward was deliberately going around to the various supporter's trusts and fanzines to explain what he had planned for the future etc?

I don't think any of the journalists know very much atm.

Come on, I am not calling him obese. Players like Strootman and Vidal are pure muscle and athletic machines. Rooney is not. That is my point.
Your point is bollocks. Rooney is almost exactly the same height and weight as Arjen Robben.

And Rooney has no muscle? What is his body made up of then? Burgers, chips and lard?

Compared to other box-to-box midfielders? Good one :)

You didn't compare, you asked if he had low body fat purcentage. The response is, yes.

Could he be fitter ? Probably, yes.

But his physic doesn't prevent him to have a lot of stamina and power, so it's not really a problem, unless if he fancy a career in modelling.

Best way. We've had a taste of both approaches now, and I definitely prefer the inclusive way we conducted our dealings under Sir Alex and Gill. I'd like to think Van Gaal has something to do with it.

Mitten has very close contacts with Diego Forlan having interviewed him many times and have been to his home too.

If he's getting Cavani news then it's most likely from Forlan rather than Woody or someone else.

First off, there's no need to swear. Muscle weighs more than fat and it is obvious that if Robben and Rooney weigh the same it is because Robben's muscle is making it so. Their stature and appearance shows that.

Yeah I agree. The constant leaks to the Manchester based journalists was becoming rather annoying. It appears that they've died down considerably since LvG got his feet under the table.

Whilst I agree that Robben is probably more muscle than Rooney, in regard to your original point, Rooney's size/frame is hardly so big that it's going to impact on his ability to run.

I do see your point but do you think that he will be able to get up and down the pitch constantly in the coming years? Also people say that Rooney has great energy and covers a lot of ground but the fact of the matter is he plays up front and chases back the odd time. He is not required to chase back overly often so he does get to spend a lot of time up in the final third of the pitch. A box-to-box midfielder does more running than Rooney would have ever done in a game which I don't think he will be fit for.

I don't know but LvG trying him out there doesn't mean we won't buy another CM. I'm sure Rooney won't be our only option.

Yeah, I honestly think Rooney will be a striker until he retires. How much of it will be at United is anyone's guess.

How can a taped interview played in a podcast be off the fckin record? And what difference is there between revealing information to a paper journalist and a fanzine journalist? Mitten has close ties to the club and is respected in United circles

Not true. Google "Rooney distance covered" and you'll find a plethora of articles and stats disproving your claim, including recent ones confirming he's still very much got it.

1lb of muscle weighs the same as 1lb of fat, muscle is just less dense. Back to the twitter thread..

So two top wingers available Sanchez/Di Maria - should I remind everyone, where is Woodward :D

He's been around the Uruguay camp quite a bit this tournament aswell hasn't he? I definitely think there's more to it than just pure made-up bollocks.

They have different body shapes, that's all. The notion that Rooney is fat is a stupid one. Absolutely idiotic. In this day and age, when players bodies are studied down to the most minute detail by fitness and nutrition experts, and every single movement they make in training and games is recorded and monitored, the idea that United and England would be letting some chubby Mars bar muncher squeeze his morbidly obese body into an XXXL shirt and waddle out onto some of the biggest stages (reinforced, of course) the game has to offer is absolutely ludicrous.

Also, if they're carrying the same weight then it doesn't matter what it's made up of, it's still putting the same weight on their joints. And that was your worry anyway, that Rooney's poor knee joints would buckle under the weight of his huge non muscle belly.

If we somehow sign Cavani then I have no idea which way the club is heading, with the Real players if rather we signed Sanchez and Shaw

Exactly.
I wouldn't imagine many posters on here have lower body fat than Rooney.
me perhaps, but then im a skinny bastard long distance runner, but I bet a lot calling him fat, are actually fat!

Not transfer related. if true, that's a big shame i think we had a fantastic World Cup so far.

He's just solid. It's like saying Maradona was fat because he had chunky legs and a barrel chest.
