I do think that if van Gaal wants any of that Dutch squad and they're available for transfer, then they'll end up at Old Trafford. I suppose we'll see at the end of the Holland World Cup campaign if he does think any of them are worth signing.

I don't think he will sign any of them to be honest. He's pretty much admitted that most of them are nothing special. He might go for Strootman when he gets fit again

Depay and Blind are the 2 Dutch guys I wouldn't mind seeing at OT. Not entirely sure on Indi personally. Classie might be worth a punt too.

I think we need to aim for "top tier" (hate using cliches) defenders if we're buying any. Perhaps Indi could be called that, but he doesn't get my "juices flowing" so to speak (no homo) unlike Hummels does, even though he is some times critiqued himself, he just gives me more confidence.

I generally agree with people saying "world class defenders are hard to come by these days" so I think he could be a good addition purely on that basis, but would love to see someone a bit more special, who that might be I couldn't tell you.

Van Gaal will not allow any of his players to negotiate deals until after the tournament. Blind, Martins Indi, De Vrij etc will have to wait

Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel: 'As usual with things like this, I'm not going to say anything about interest in our players'

I think Strootman is a certainty. We'll have to wait and see on any others I guess.

Off but there aren't many young van nistelrooys walking about
Luckily we don't need a young Ruud. We need a young Stam, or a young Guilit. They don't have any of them, either... :(

The reason I'd worry as if he makes a plan, then runs that by the fans and decides no, he doesn't really have a clue, that's trial & error, his job isn't to appease fans, it's to do what's best for that means disagreeing with most fans. While I agree in this instance, that logic has saved us (From a player we don't need), it's just more worrying for me that that's how sure Woodward is of himself, also as far as holding out for a marquee signing, I can assume the most important part about said player, would be his marketability, while Cavani is a top player, I’d argue Mata is as marketable/commercial, while people like DDG, Rooney & Januzaj are far more than all 3, so if this was his big plan, it wasn’t the greatest to begin with, he was then swayed by people who think they know what’s best… Perhaps I’m going over the top but it’s worrying tbh
Jesus, that's one big sentence.

He's worth it.
He isn't worth 60m that people believe is the minimum amount for Juve to even consider selling him.

Pogba, who is as good as him and is younger isn't worth 60m.

He's a good player with a great engine. He's a "good"runner and a "good" distributor of the ball, "great" ball winner with good engine, but I agree he's exactly the player we need.

He's very similar to Mousa Dembele in terms of playing style albeit better.

Pogba is simply not as good as Vidal. Vidal is on a whole other level and is arguably the best all-around midfielder in the world. Certainly worth the 60m. Pogba is good and could some day be on Vidal's level but he isn't now.

Modric and Schweinstieger are definitely better.

Well, I agree Pogba is just a level below him ATM. This season I've seen Pogba play better many times, he's also more valued than Vidal at Juve and is superior technically.

Vidal is very poor at times, he's rash and untidy. But he's still a great player.

Makes perfect sense. Also suggests Van Gaal himself will not be moving for any players until after Holland finish their run in Brazil.

won't make much difference really...it s usually the agents who are involved in the negotiations.

True, but Van Gaal has yet to set foot into the United job. He's completely focused on Holland, as well he should be.

I'd be surprised if he hasn't given us a lot of thought too. Players would have, not necessarily us but their future moves. It's human nature to have one eye on what's happening next as well as the present. Can't focus on one thing for four weeks, you'd go mental

I'm sure he's done plenty of thinking and has a plan of action after the WC. There may even be negotiations going on behind the scenes to expedite things once Holland finish in Brazil.

Not sure if I want Holland knocked out or to win. If he's knocked out he'll be able to make a start here but if he wins maybe the lure of playing for the World Cup winning manager will have a wee bit of sway in our transfer dealings.

The dither he goes the better IMO. Not that he doesn't have an amazing reputation already but having a great tournament in everyone's immediate memory can only be a good thing.

Outwardly he would like it to appear so but the truth is that this job represents his biggest chance at redemption as a top class club football manager. He will do what's expected of him with his national side but in private it will be hard not to think of the big task awaiting him once this is done, and it's a big opportunity too to cement his legacy!

What? I hope it's as a cover for right back or else 4-4-2 with Valencia on right wing and Young on left wing it is.

I'm amazed people thought he was going to leave. He's a good back up option to have.

Van Gaal clearly sees something in him.

I'll be astonished if Young signs a new one though.

I didn't expect Valencia to leave. He is quick and has a good engine and hopefully his distribution will improve under Van Gaal. He is a good player to have in the squad.

Don't worry about that. Aside to the fact that he's not good enough, Young still has two years left of his contract, Valencia only had one. There's no way we'll be offering Young a new one at the moment.

Valencia would be good to have as a wing back if we play with a back 3 as Holland started the world cup. LVG would change his style of game for the better.

Valencia has had midtable form for quite some time now but at his low wages I'll be happy to extend his contract to keep him as a sub to a new signing (Sanchez or Depay for example). Bringing on one of the fastest wingers in the world off the bench at the hour mark could have several benefits, especially if he recaptures some form. Also he's a good professional, bar his form I've no problem with Valencia, quite like him in fact.
