I never said I was glad he was injured, I'm glad this will give the club the impetus to buy a new midfielder...which is something we badly need.
I have nothing against Carrick, I feel he probably should start in a 3 but if this means we sign another big name CM then it's not so bad. Of course its bad for Carrick personally.

Yes. When someone gets injured and someone says 'this isn't bad news' they're gonna get stick. I don't care what player it is, hating a United player or being happy when they're injured is pathetic.

Him being injured doesn't help does it? Even if we sign a top midfielder, an injury to him or Herrera would mean Fellaini, Fletcher or Cleverley have to play there. I doubt it has any influence on us signing a midfielder, that was likely the plan regardless. It's not a mob mentality, it's just ridiculous logic.
Don't know if you have heard this story but back in 1992/1993 when England played Norway - the norwegian right-back (I think it was Tore Pedersen) took a knock to the head after about 20 minutes and when the physio came onto the pitch he asked him if he could tell what the score was. Pedersen answered 0-0 and the physio immediately called for a substitution and on came Henning Berg who played a great game and sealed his move to Blackburn
Afterwards the physio admitted that he should't have subbed Pedersen - because when he asked Pedersen the score, he believed England had taken the lead 1-0 so when Pedersen said it was 0-0 he assumed he had a concussion

I am an honest man and while I have never wished injury on anyone, I wouldnt care too much if Fellaini was injured.
So we should hope for serious injuries to Smalling, Hernandez, Valencia, Fletcher and Fellaini as well - because they aren't first team regulars and that way we have to buh new players ?

Maybe he should have worded it differently. A lot of people have got on Carrick's back recently and when someone made a comment like that it annoyed me very quickly. Perhaps I should apologise for that.

Fair enough, that was how it came across though.

I also hate the gang mentality thing on here but I don't think this is an example, it was a silly comment and when I replied to it I didn't see anyone else who had. I think it was quite clear we were signing another midfielder regardless, so Carrick's injury can only be a bad thing. For the record the comment about hating players wasn't directed at you, hence 'or', that was just me going off on a tangent about the large amount of fans who do seem to genuinely hate Young. At the end of the day, one of our best players over the last few years got a long term injury and you said it wasn't bad news - you can't expect not to get stick.
