Not one for comparing actions of managers/players but how is LVG donating money making back page news? Mourinho donated to the World Food Programme only last month whilst in the Ivory Coast, but didn't get (or need) back page news though. It is really news though? Just a thought.

Think it's because of timing. Van Gaal arriving was back page anyway, so this gets there. Standalone it won't be back page.

If we're going for Strootman I'm all for getting him in now, letting our guys sort him out, and in that time he is getting used to things, and his team mates, could be back by November, and we could get a few quid off if we take him now.

I've been banging that drum too man.

I cant see Roma willing to sell in January, or Strootman wanting to leave then either... Next summer could be a right bollox trying to get him then too - his stock may have risen even further..

What do you mean by mobile ? Because his only qualities are his mobility and his strength

I've been unimpressed when I've seen him play last season. He doesn't really get involved in action to occupy defenders and allow others to pick up space. I don't see him doing well in the pace of the PL

Aye it has to be a possibility, LvG will know about his injury inside out, if there's no risk there then it could & probably should happen, sure as hell the player will want to come.

Thing is these Chilean papers/journos have never had so much attention, & clicks, makes sense for them to pad it out as long as possible.

The manager denied a possible departure to England and also the new "Juventus' coach Massimo Allegri praised the national wheel.

Juventus do not want to get away for the world of Arturo Vidal, Manchester United wants the new team that will be Louis Van Gaal, but in Italy have him as one of the most important players in the squad. In addition, the new coach of the "Singora vechia" has him for next season.

In the "Boot Country," the club's sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta said, "La Gazzetta dello sport" that "Arthur is not for sale.It is one of the most important players on the team. "In addition, the leader added that the player is happy in Turin and "matches our desire to keep at the club."

Moreover, the British newspaper Daily Mail said that Manchester would soon formalize the deal for the midfielder, a native of San Joaquin, which would be around U.S. $ 59 million.

Finally, the new head coach of the peninsula, Massimo Alegri said that Chile has for next season and added that "I am happy to train players like Pogba and Vidal."

The article linked cites the Daily Mail for the "formalised offer" bit. Best ignored.

He is an average Ligue 1 player which means "he is not good", but he is mobile and he has pace.

Old tweet, but haven't seen it in the thread.

Good read Bistro, but i'm sure you'll agree - these deals mean bollox to the fans if we're not competing for the best players in the world & if we're not - its goin into the Glazers pockets..

"Success on the field = success off the field", has been the mantra under the Glazers, but we hold our breath to see if "unprecedented levels of spending" (that Ed came out with), will become a reality..

We need to spend big & get the team sorted with top players - not potential alternatives. Shaw & Herrera are already top players, so i hope we keep with that trend in this window!

I didn't write it. :wenger: haha!

Yes you're completely right! Although we have kinda spent about £120m (37+27+27+29ish) in 12 months, which must be a new record?

I'd like to see them make a bit more of a statement this window though, and I'm pretty sure we will.

Pissflaps and big dangly knockers!

I'm still confident we'll get Vidal though.

I dont think anyone has a fecking clue what United's thinkin is & who we're after..

I have to say though, i quite like the turn-around from last summer, in us being quiet this summer. Even though last summer i was saying "how refreshing it is that we're being so open for a change".. and we only ended up with a very angry clown for all the bragging Ed & Dave did!

That's astonishing to me. Not that we've spent so much money, but that we've managed to strengthen so little for it. Shaw is one for the future, and will surely be a step up from Evra last season. Fellaini on the other hand just plainly isn't good enough, and never was. Mata is a great player, but wasn't really needed, since we have several players who can play in the only role he truly thrives in. Herrera might turn out to be a great buy in the one position we've really needed reinforcements for years, and on the face of it should improve us the most of all of them, but right now he's a bit of a question mark.

We'd be a lot better served if the bulk of that cash was spent on CM in my opinion.

I'm as confused as a blind lesbien in a fish market with that. You're joking right?

Edit: White fecking text :D

Half of it has been spent on CM

I want to move to Chile, ChileVision, El Periscopio, Une Dos Trees (gardening show). Quality names!

I made the last one up incase you were wondering.
So many great things associated with the Vidal transfer. 'Done Dealio' might be the phrase of the window:lol:

Why are people mentioning Strootman? He's fecked.
As in he's suffered an injury that a number of people have suffered and fully recovered from? As in it's an injury that doctors and surgeons have made extreme breakthroughs in recently? As in it's an injury that mainly affects players who rely on pace, which Strootman doesn't?

RvN tore his ACL the year before joining us, that worked out well. It's not a worry if he fully recovers (which he probably will), but after the Hargreaves debacle the club will probably be a lot more cautious about knee injuries. No chance we are signing him before January at the earliest (if at all).
