If you're capable of playing & excelling, in any team in the world - to me thats world class.

Messi & Ronaldo are on a different level.

The next level down is world class..
Yes but they don't contain players like Oscar and Matic who are good players but definitely not world class as someone suggested on here.

Jesus what's happened to this thread overnight, there's been 2 tweets in about 4 pages.

Don't see him fitting into Pochettino style of play plus why would he move from a Europa League team to another. Spurs aren't in the CL and won't be for next season. He wants CL football. Bayern is another strange idea, even Gotze is struggling to get game time. Shaqiri is leaving because of it.

Good deal for Liverpool if they get that for him. Seems they're selling another player to Stoke for £7 million or so as well.

I was expecting them to bid, however I thought he might stay to be honest. Nothing on LFC forums about this. Definitely need to get someone else in if he goes.
Assaidi is the player going to Stoke.

Their loss. Although the last time they sold a key player, they went ahead and won the CL. But Di Maria was instrumental in the final. Hmm.

I wouldnt refer those pair to that standard right now, but both have fantastic potential.

That Oscar fella has an ol'skool Brazilian style thats kinda losing its appeal. Do all the kids wanna be Full-backs, CB's or holding Mid-fielders there now? It kinda seems that way!

Apart from Neymar & Oscar - Brazils flair has seriously dried up (Bernard kinda looks overawed at International level, but pretty decent at club level). You only have to see Fred's name on the starting teamsheet & he's friggin useless at everything - bar conning hometown ref's.

I'm contradicting myself here, but i wouldnt bother yer arse debating this aul world class thing. Its a never-ending argument that'll bore the complete & utter shit out of ya man..

Coutinho should have gone, and Willian should have been starting IMO. Add Rafael at Rb and things would look better.

So Di Maria and Kroos crossed off the list with Vidal either on or off depending on what BS translator your using. This is all becoming rather familiar

Personally speaking, this crop of Brazilian players (bar Neymar) arent a patch on the ol'skool before them.

Many footballers these days are so overrated - its beyond belief. Its like yer parents saying: "now son - listen to this Beatles tune.. Now thats what i call proper music.."

What's wrong them? It gives the club more power, if anything it benefits the club and sort of traps the player

Maybe there's not too much risk when you've got a player of Kroos' calibre, but there seem to be a number of other players being tied into 6 year deals at the moment.

A number of the Newcastle signings are 6 year deals aren't they? That's quite a risk in case the player turns out to be a flop or a perma-crock.

If the player turns out to be the "next big thing" then fine, but I don't see it with some of these signings.

I personally think 4/5 years with an option for extension sounds safer.

I'm starting to think we haven't got many alternatives. I think we might wait for strootman in January instead of splashing out now though I really hope I'm wrong.

I've just read Nicky butts comments about Herrera not being on the same level as kroos and pogba, and it increasingly sounds like we know we can't get the top class players. So I don't think it bodes well for the rest of the window.

We don't need Butty to tell us that. In the past we had CL football to offer but wouldn't pay the cash. Now, we are willing to pay the cash but no CL football to offer! Sigh...

Very somber mood in the Caf this morning. Are we all gearing up for the dreaded "happy with squad, no value in market" lingo later.

Some of it is do with FFP and the number of years the transfer fee is spread over.

Where are people getting this kind of stuff from? Who has said we won't sign any further players?
