In fairness, he has absolutely no incentive to deny the interest, or rebuff the questions. He might get a new deal, or generate interest from elsewhere, or even just raise his overall profile.

I suppose that's true as well.

MUFC adamant they won't pay £34m for Vidal. There's interest but won't pay what they think is over the odds.

Even though he's now a BBC journalist, I still can't take his "scoops" seriously; the veracity and frequency of his claims is still very 'MEN'!

I can't believe the papers are stupid enough to print that shit 'United won't pay £34m'. Of course we fecking would, £34m is a fantastic deal for Vidal.

Fact of the matter, those journos know nothing at the moment, it seems the leaks have completely stopped. They are just guessing and covering all bases, but whatever the info is, £34m being too much money for a player of Vidal's calibre is total bullshit. It's far more likely Juventus demand something like £40-50m and we are negotiating the fee down.

Bruce used to buy all our players on the sale list. Now he shops at Spurs.

C'mon buy Young atleast Brucey!

If this is a runner at all, I'd imagine at the moment Juve are at the point of demanding something like £50m for him while Utd are bidding around £35m. Not surprising to see info being leaked to the British press about how United won't be taken for a ride on the day the announce such a big sponsorship deal either. I'm sure there are lots of games being played in the background at the moment and United will be anxious to give off the impression that they're not going to throw silly money around the place.

If we as outsiders looking in could be sure we are definitely in for him and are having concrete discussions with his club about a fee then I'd be pretty happy at this point as it'd mean we've probably already gotten the green light from him and his agent and it likely means he's happy to go to United even without CL football (which is a big worry for us in any deal this Summer, let's be honest).

Problem is we can't really be sure of anything at them moment.

Newcastle have bought decently this time around. They still have a crap manager though.

That's a plausible explanation. Thanks mate.

No problem glad to be of help.

Seriously, maybe they're doing it to spread the transfer fee out, and/or maybe give themselves more "meat on the bone" if a player decides to leave in 3/4 years.

Probably a reason for it.

It's definitely possible that the "we won't pay a penny over £34m" is being deliberately leaked by the club, as part of their negotiating strategy.

I think 6 years is because Newcastle are a feeder club. They buy promising talent and look to sell it on but want them locked into a contract to get a good fee.

They have been unlucky with Ashley given he's richer than even Richard Branson. They and Villa would have been better options for a sugar daddy than City and Chelsea in my opinion.

Just like juve keep on leaking 50-55 million euros in tutto and gazetta, its all games by both sides. There is no release clause here.

I don't understand the delay in Evra's deal. It has been done for the last five days and yet there has been no confirmation over him.

Looks like the Devils's rising, they signed Cabella yesterday on a 6 year contract

Oh noes! I forgot about that.

I think although it is being done as seperate deal, United want to keep that little trump card in their pocket more than likely.

You are looking at it from the wrong point of view. Its a sensational headline meant to attract clicks. I bet everyone that read headline no matter what team they supported wanted to read the story. Objective achieved. The story had like what, 200 words maybe?

I think that we are trying to sort out the Vidal deal before they announce Evra. Can't think of any other plausible reason behind the delay.

What a beautiful back drop.

Newcastle are such a great club, passionate fans and a fantastic stadium and Imo a massive club in England and it just really bugs me that this idiot Pardew is still in charge, so many managers right now I could name that could take the club to new levels but it will be the same old season for them, Poor start - Decent Spell and then poor towards the end and finish a few places above relegation.

They deserve better

How does that work? Apparently, the clubs have agreed a fee and Evra has agreed to the wages on offer. What exactly is LvG supposed to do now that we are holding up the deal? Also, I think selling Evra would definitely have gone ahead only after LvG's approval.

They're a massive club in the North East. That's about it.

I think he may want to meet evra to convince him to stay? May be they have yet to take his approval? Could be anything.
