Expecting a few Dutch players to sign this week as well. My guess is Blind and De Vrij.
I don't mind us signing players in bulk if I know who they are. When we signed the likes of Obertan we had to convince ourselves that be had found a gem in the rough. If we make the signing everyone thinks we are, I will be mega chuffed.

That as well as the BBC (not BBC gossip), Mitten, Ogden, et al....tweeting that it is definitely going to happen. Everything else is BS.
So as usual sources are seen as credible if they say what we want to hear, and BS if they say what we don't want to hear?

Ducker doesn't have a clue, he's just covering all bases from what I heard via web cam. Ducker also said we had given up on Herrera and 2 weeks later BANG we signed him.

Do United not have any real ITKs on Twitter who actually know what they're talking about?

It's weird. Arsenal have about three legitimate ones who everyone follows. Liverpool have a couple of journalists who are constantly leaked to, officially and unofficially.

United have Ducker/Ogden who just get whatever PR spin United choose to reveal
. Is there no-one who's actually close to the action who leaks to an independent person?
I think it's naive to assume that's the extent of their contacts. They got hold of plenty of stuff pre-Woodward and his media briefings. Ogden was banned under Fergie's reign for getting hold of info he didn't want out there. Also broke Fergie's retirement which he was not happy about.

We had one guy years ago but he was written off as a bullshitter even though several journos vouched for his itk-ness. He's disappeared now I think.

Ducker doesn't say what fans want to hear so obviously he knows nothing.

Truth is apart from some reports in Chile there hasn't been much in the Vidal rumours other than mostly ITK attention seeking feckwits making stuff up.

I doubt the deal is even close.

The thing is, it's all credible people involved there. Sky saying we are in talks, BBC saying that etc until he signed. With this it's all Twitter Journos and crap newspapers coming out with it all. BBc, Sky Sports not mentioned Vidal to United once.

Club officially denying a deal/move/interest in Vidal = good sign.

They only really ever do that to stop anyone else getting wind about who they are after don't they?

Just like Herrera.

There were numerous good sources even then saying that we had, and a deal was close. There's been no solid information about Vidal whatsoever. It doesn't mean he won't sign but it's highly unlikely.

We denied the di Maria stuff the other day.

Apart from the sports editor of MEN saying the deal is imminent?

By the time Skysports/bbc report it, we will be close to signing him. Same happened with Herrera, by the time they heard of the news it was pretty much wrapped up.

I'm not too worried about Ducker's latest version of events. He's probably right we're not that far along in our pursuit of Vidal, it certainly seems there's been no bid. He's keeping it open though.

Strikes me that the club probably want a final meeting with Van Gaal over transfers (which will have changed a bit since they last sat down) before we really press ahead with the next stage of our dealings.

And the reason is because we did the groundwork for a move on Ander last summer and then paid his buyout fee so Bilbao couldnt do anything about it.

That happened within days. A rumour came out saying it will be announced soon, next day Sky Sports said we were in talks, day after he signed. This has been Twitter rumours and nothing else for 4 or 5 days.

Italian and Chilean news outlets are not twitter. Twitter is just the means by which we come across the news the stories they publish.

There has been reports in British press as well, albeit not reliable (Daily Mail, Mirror etc.)

The guy's a proven bullshitter. As I've mentioned on here before, a mate of mine did some work with MEN and Spencer was actively encouraging people to make stories up. This was only in the past year. As unreliable a source as you'll find in journalism.

If he leaves Madrid its PSG or Chelsea I reckon.
Chelsea already possess a quality young French centre-back and I'm unsure Madrid would be so open to selling to him.

PSG already possess three extremely expensive centre-backs and need to keep an eye on FFP.

I don't see him leaving anyway, Madrid won't let him go.

Didn't know that then.

Even if we leave him out, Adam Crafton who's generally getting everything spot on w.r.t us says he's our major target.

No it hasn't.
Major news outlets in both Chile and Italy have been running with this story.
Doesn't mean its going to happen, but it is definitely not just Twitter made up rumours.

This is what Ducker says, "United are not pursuing Vidal at this moment in time but that could change"
"United are interested in di Maria but have not taken the interest any further but that could also change"

Fantastic insight
