Robben would be worth bringing in, even if he just had one good season left in him. Instantly be the best attacking player in the league and would win us the title.

Well just the amount needed for those 2 combined with the £60mil spent already and the probable signings of a defender or 2 means we would be talking £150+mil, its just not us really is it. I mean we probably do need to spend amounts like that, even more really if we want to be straight back challenging for the title next season but after having years of pitiful spending (net spend wise for a club of our size and revenue), i just can't see it.
I'd love to be wrong though.

Whats the smilie for Adnan?, i very much doubt we would be able to get both Vidal and Di Maria although we could really of done with both of them.
If we do lose out on Di Maria, i hope we are looking at some other creative wide player (like Lucas Moura who isn't exactly 'flavor of the month' at PSG apparently) because we are lacking on that front imo.
The smilie is for the last sentence and how they could come to that conclusion

fecking hell, if we got Vidal I'd cream all over myself.

You'd believe the Chilean media might get their hands on info that'd involve our dealings with Vidal's agent. Don't see how they could know how the negotiations between United and Juve are going or the fee involved, when neither Italian or English media have even reported talks taken place.

The word is that it was the case of either or. So Di Maria would have been deployed in a midfield 3 like in madrid. Vidal is a much better choice then.

Where is that info coming from? It also makes me worry that we'll be seeing a lot of left side Rooney nonsense if the plan is to deploy two box to box CM's in front of....I'm guessing Carrick?

I reckon all our transfers both inbound and outbound will take place next week, as its the final week before the tour.

Like I have said before, this summer will be an exception. I do not think we can compare Fergie world with LvG and a squad rebuild. Big sponsors will want big names to be associated with them, particularly Adidas'. Additionally, there will be expectation for us to achieve Champions League football at the next possible opportunity. LvG cannot afford to feck this up and consequently I am sure he will have insisted in the club spending whatever it takes.

That is ALOT of activity to be done in one week...

I doubt it. They will try to do as much as possible though.

Mostly speculation or people are trying to make two ends meet as there were reports flying similar to the ones which you quoted. Nevermind the tactical setup, getting Vidal will make worries seem a lot less.

It was AS who brought up Herrera out of nowhere a week before we signed him so they must get some things right

There's been no hype on here or in the media from what I've seen.

Scolari seemed to prefer him to Fernandinho.
The hype was prior to going to Spurs. Most journalists seemed to rate him as a good signing, those who worked with the national team were branding him the new Lampard. Can't see any of that personally and in fairness I've not seen any hype on here either.

Hopefully the main bulk of it gets done in this time. It's a lot, but I have no doubt that Giggs and van Gaal are prepared to get as much done just before we go on tour, as you say.

Robben should come to United. The love affair of Van Persie, Robben and Van Gaal has been my favourite thing this summer.

This is said every year, but it never really works out like that does it? I suppose there will be a lot of adjusting to do this year in particular so it'll be extra beneficial to have transfers done by the beginning of the tour but its a big ask, especially with departures. Lets hope so.

It's likely most of them have already been set up and are waiting for LvG's final input before proceeding. In the case of Vidal and Di Maria, it would make sense for the club to pull the trigger on both or whichever is actually set to happen to get medicals done and players ready to travel on tour. Same with Rodriguez, if indeed its a legitimate link.

Vidal would be an excellent signing. I've always been dubious of Di Maria. Not doubted his talent but if it's true that van Gaal gave Woodward a 'list' before the World Cup I've always felt it more likely that we'd work through that list rather than be diverted, even if someone as Di Maria comes onto the market, just because it's now suddenly convenient for Real to sell him.

It would be amazing wouldn't it? He's not the youngest but he can run all day as he proved at this WC, definitely has a few years left in him.

If it came down to a straight choice between Di Maria and Vidal (Only reason i can think of is lack of funds) then it's Vidal surely. I'd rather have Vidal and Herrera in midfield and a plan B such as Depay wide, than Clasie and Di Maria. Or whoever, you get the idea.

He seems to have Di Natale syndrome. Although he looks like a testicle, it looks like age hasn't affected him playing wise.

Is there a new article from Le Tercera that AS are referring to or are they late to the party with the stuff from earlier today/yesterday?

Di Maria is an assist machine, for Madrid anyway. Regardless of what people think of him, he would of been huge for us.
