I thought Guarin was being lined up as a possible replacement.
Paulinho seems a strange one.
Memory is a little hazy now, but IIRC part of it was that you had to have a well above standard percentage of your CL squad as homegrown.
At the start of the summer, there were stories that Arsenal had a deal for Milner, some even saying he'd play right back instead of Sagna, but you cancelled it as you need more homegrown players.
Guarin's terrible. Not that Paulinho's much better.
No, no, he definitely is. And was long before you bought him.
He's damn underrated in England.By all accounts he had an excellent season for Malaga in the 12/13 season, he has just played regularly in the team that won the Premier League and is now set to start in a World Cup final. But yeah, you're right, he must be shit.
Ahhh right, looked it up, smaller 21 man squad, but smaller HG to match.Nope, we actually have to name less home-grown players in our Champions League squad this season (5 compared to the standard 8 IIRC)
Demichelis was shite for a few months but in the last 2-3 months of the season he was City's best CB.
Really struggle to see the hype with Paulinho. Prior to his Spurs move he was being branded as the new big thing in midfield. Not sure I've ever seen him play well though - I'd go as far as to say that Kleberson was a significantly better player.
GloriousImagine getting 35m for Vidal and wasting 20m of it on Paulinho. I'm definitely not going to be the one to tell Juve though...

No you don't, you can register 21 players instead of 25 and the number of homegrown players is still 8.
Potential sales of Nastasic, Garcia, Rodwell, Milner and Guidetti would allow us to fund a move.
No, definitely only need to register 5 home-grown players.

Whats the smilie for Adnan?, i very much doubt we would be able to get both Vidal and Di Maria although we could really of done with both of them.
If we do lose out on Di Maria, i hope we are looking at some other creative wide player (like Lucas Moura who isn't exactly 'flavor of the month' at PSG apparently) because we are lacking on that front imo.
Well the Mirror article linked on the side panel of the Caf says we have resigned ourselves to Hummels staying in Dortmund and that Vidal and Di Maria are too expensive.![]()
Possibly means we're limited to one big money purchase, possibly that the demands for di Maria were getting too high and we pulled out, possibly that di Maria prefers to go to PSG and we're leaking that to save face, probably just a heap of guesswork bullshit.I don't understand how us signing Vidal would mean we're not signing Di Maria. How is there a link between the two? Kind of implies that we are limited financially doesn't it? Having said that if we get Vidal and a half decent CB it'd be a better summer than I would have expected.
So good you're spending £32mil to replace him.By all accounts he had an excellent season for Malaga in the 12/13 season, he has just played regularly in the team that won the Premier League and is now set to start in a World Cup final. But yeah, you're right, he must be shit.
