Dunno then, there's nothing on the AS site about us actually offering yet.
They said on twitter that they haven't done an article yet, but know that we've bid. It's probably bollocks anyway.

If we end this summer with Shaw and Herrera it would feel as painful as last summer.

Not really. Quality in two positions which we need, as opposed to a squad player being brought in for huge money last summer.

Plus, we got Van Gaal this summer which is easily the biggest positive that can come out of it - whoever else we buy.

The decent journos will be in their 'waiting for 10.30 embargo lifting' phase on any news stories now, I'd have thought.

I'd rather we not spend it all this summer myself. We've 'only' got to fight on the domestic font this year. If next summer we're buying again for an assault on Europe having an extra £60m or so from this year in case a special player crops up, would be welcome.
See what you're saying.

But but but our new shirt sponsor and shirt maker deals will be in full flow then, tv money will probably be up again, and our prize money for winning the league can all be spent on new transfers

BELIEVE

Don't see what the price tag fuss about Di Maria is, he's one of the best wingers in world football pay whatever it takes to get him.

You forget how bad last summer really was. If we brought no one it would still be better than last year as we wouldn't have wasted £27m on that useless lump.

Can't get my head round us not competing for Sanchez.

Why are we not throwing the war chest at him?
Rumours are we were but he's rejected us over lack of UCL, which would make it the third time he has done so so he can go feck himself now.

Exactly, wouldnt call us spoilt tho, in terms of signing world class player we should have had more fiestas.

I like the fans who insist they pay the players wages.
Even though £700-800 for their season ticket perhaps pays about 30mins of Anderson's week.

That's us, spoilt bastard fans. Club spends £60m and we're like, what of it, where's my superstar at.

He didn't word it very well but it's not about wanting a superstar, logically we need another CM and CB regardless of how famous they are.

Sounds like we have Vermaelen coming....so we might be facing the fact that we've done our big business, and this is supporting cast time.

I'd be disappointed too if we don't get another CM in atleast. Rather have De Jong than Fellaini and Cleverley.

He certainly is a big game player.
With Herrera we have increased our creativity from the centre, with Di Maria we could have a man beating winger who can cross and score goals. Christ

If that is the case then I think we have the right to be concerned, Vermaelen can't take a piss without getting a groin strain so I don't really think he can be counted on to be much of an addition and that would leave us with very little quality in defense. As for midfield, well it sucks for Herrera to be lumbered with one of the CM's we have already as his partner, not the best way to start off his United career IMO.

I said he is overpriced at 60 million, his max price should be 40 million.

Rarely do actual transfer prices = the mental tweets and stab in the dark reporting. The real figures start to emerge towards completion.

Even Shaw's price was misquoted on the day on announcement.

Let the club decide on value.

Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria could be on his way to the Premier League after the Spanish giants accepted a £47.7m offer from Man Utd according to Spanish media outlet AS.

The 26-year-old is currently away with his national side at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has admitted that his future at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is unknown.

The South American showed his versatility by playing in a deeper role to accommodate the arrival of world record signing Gareth Bale and the Argentina international scored five goals and provided 22 assists last term.

Manchester United are desperate to add quality to a depleted side as Louis van Gaal weighs up moves for a number of star players.

Looks like a load of crap to me but the ESPN guy is Tweeting it so who knows?

I agree, with him it will most definitely spell the end of either Young or Nani at United (maybe even both!) which is reason alone to get him for any price.

With the Evra stories not going away, Vermaelen only makes sense if we need a player who can potentially be a left sided back 3 player, or fill in at left back of Shaw needs a rest.

Carrick and Herrera could be decent, if Carrick shows last year was just the overall Moyes malaise, rather than a personal decline.
After all, under Fergie we often had what is referred to as a sitter and a runner. Fletcher and Scholes was often used as one example.

Where we didn't do well, was with Carrick and Fletcher/Giggs/Fellaini. None had the sheer mobility to compliment him/

If we got Di Maria, I'd happily buy somebody like Carvalho / De Jong.

I'd love Vidal, and have liked him since I bought him on FM from Leverkusen, but to be honest, the balance of the team would probably be better with a defensive midfielder happy to just sit back, and it would give more freedom to Mata.

But, Id rather have Vidal and Di Maria

Yeah, I'd rather have one and not the other than neither. Getting Di Maria would take the sting out of the (probably to be honest) news that Vidal isn't coming.

But imagine if we got both?!!

I can't actually see any point in Vermaelen at all in truth, mediocre player at his best and never fit, if he is coming in I imagine it's as LB cover for Shaw, basically a squad utility player, we'd still need a good, experienced CB brought in.

Carrick is 33 and so lacking in pace and mobility we'd be asking Herrera to do the running of two, and our biggest issue in midfield the last few years has been when teams press us and run at us centrally, using Carrick in anything but a proper midfield 3 with two shields is just asking for more problems.

I guess the share will sky rocket(may be already up) in the coming days.

Not sure if it will - its a bit down today, but that's probably down to the markets tanking this morning. The only time United's stock soared this year is when Moyes was sacked.
