I'm struggling to see where a big signing is coming from.
Herrera and Shaw we could have guessed as they have been in the works for a while but Vidal, Di Maria, Pogba, Hummels, Sanchez, Kroos I personally don't think we will get these type of players until next year when we are back in the CL. It's a shame because for the players that are available this summer I think many would have picked us over some rivals (Sanchez and Kroos in particular).
I'm not counting Vermaelen as a major signing by the way, I think we will sign him and maybe some young guys with potential like Depay. If we can build a solid winning squad this coming season I think the superstars will come next season, if we haven't already made our own.

Correct, what I meant was there are reports/gossip of City/Madrid bidding for Pogba. We all know most of the time it starts from a made up story from the agent or selling club - i think Juve will sing Nani and sell Pogba. Can't see Di Maria or Sanchez ending up in Juve, for apparent reasons.
We never really sign "superstars" though. This season I thought we might to show our intent on fighting for the league again, but it doesn't look likely. That de telegraaf article on our budget being about 80 million seems more likely now. 8-10 million on vermalen and 8 million on De Jong and we will be there.

Van Gaal may not even have targets. From what I've read the guy prides himself on improving players at the club and giving the youth a chance. I wouldn't expect anyone big.
We have no idea whats going on, how much is budgeted for transfers or who are targets actually are. The media have proved they know nothing time after time, yet people are worried when a negative tweet appears. Our manager is still away at the World Cup, and i don't really expect to see too much activity until he actually takes full control.
van Gaal might have quite a few targets that he will try for, or we might actually be very advanced with a few transfers, simple fact is, we the fans and the press don't have a clue whats going on. This summer is very, very different from the last one. Seems like Woodward has learnt his lesson and has stopped briefing the press on who we're after. It looks like all our business is being done secretly, exactly how i like it to be done. I think we've got another 3 or so players lined up, we just have to wait and see who they are
