Nice headache for the new manager. SAF had similar 'headaches' when he had two or three good players competing for one position.
Stockpiling isn't 'good headaches'. Look at our CB's now, were Evans, Smalling and Jones good headaches? Because they're looking like migraines right now.

There is a huge difference between playing on the edges of a centre back 3 and playing in a pairing. I am pretty certain you know this already. He probably will play as a left back and we probably won't sign Rodriguez. But the way he would be asked to play the LCB role would not be as completely foreign to him as some are suggesting.

There's a huge difference between playing on the left of a back 3, where you are basically a traditional CB with a sweeper/half-back dropping into the middle, and playing left back.

Play Rodriguez higher up the pitch and play Shaw on the left of a centre back 3.

That's the first thing that came to mind. We have no idea if there is any truth in it and no idea what LvG has planned. I think we should just enjoy the ride when he finishes the WC.

Modrić to United then?

If they go down that route, they would play a midfield 3 with Pogba, Modric and Kroos, which would actually be excellent. We might have a better chance of taking Khedira from them at this rate.

Pogba Modric
Bale Kroos Ronaldo
Benzema

If United are going to buy him then they must have good reasons to do so.

You're essentially implying that any signing is a good signing simply because United will have 'good reasons to do so'.

Interesting tidbit from that piece

Explaining why his final tournament training sessions concentrated on match situations, dealing with one-goal deficits or leads, or playing with or against ten men: "This is something the clubs don't always work on. The truly important thing is playing development. In the last five or six years I've seen that most the U17 players have progressed into first-team environments. That is a really satisfying aspect of the job."

I hope Van Gaal has told the other players that suffered early exits to come back slightly early too. Especially given the fact that Mata played 1 game coming on as a sub and De Gea didn't feature.

Having two players for the same position is NOT stockpiling. The main problem with Evans, Smalling and Jones is that all three suffer frequent injuries and stupid errors. Evans is a good defender but makes mistakes; Jones gets injured ever couple of games because of his reckless defending and Smalling too is easily injured.

Remember, under SAF, we had Ferdinand, Vidic, Brown and O'Shea. Sir Alex always liked two players for each position and players that could play more than one position.

any time i've seen Kroos play, its been more deep lying, not as a number 10

Thought something exciting had happened when i first signed on. 8 new pages. Except 3 of them were talking about Liverpools 3rd kit

If there is any truth in this story then Juve must know a lot more about Pogba. If the hype is to be believed then Pogba is easily worth much more than Di Maria.

The article is pretty vague, with a somewhat misleading headline.
