@Mister_Stubbs @A1X - No idea who is or if he's worth following/listening to at all, that's why I thought I'd post it and see if anyone else may know.

If not, it's probably fair to say he's just a randomer.

Versatile? He was put at CB few times by Arsenal out of necessity. He is good at only one position, that is fullback. I am not fan of going after a 31 year old fullback when we are well stocked in that area. If a good CB was available on free, another case as we have 2 lost CBs in summer. He is not a legend like Maldini etc who club should go after even if 31 or so and available on free.

The fact that he hasn't been played elsewhere (hasn't really needed to) doesn't make him less versatile. He was very good at centre back when he played there. His natural position is right back though, obviously.

I personally don't think Rafael's all that either, so maybe competition of around the same level will get him to buck up his ideas long term.
I don't see what being a legend has to do with anything.

If anything, City had less need for him than we did. I'm not crying myself to sleep over 'missing out' on Sagna, but I'd have taken him on a free.
He'd free up Jones and Smalling to actually play at centre back a lot more for starters (which I wouldn't want as first choice, but that's another discussion).

I'd be gutted if Liverpool get Shaqiri he'd do wonders in their system.

The point of Legend and someone like Maldini, Zanetti is, you can expect consistency and reliability. Or if it is someone like RvP. We went for him even if it was not a area we needed strengthening on immediate basis. Same can't be said about Sagna. Also I don't think he was very good at CB. Put against a good side and he will struggle.

What? Our first choice right back is injury prone and has yet to become experienced, who is his back up? By back up I don't mean playing a 6ft 4 center back there , I mean a proper right back back up. How the hell are we well stocked

Jones is good cover there. Also I expect Varela to be involved at senior level if needed this season.

Jones/Varela

I'd like to think a lot of #MUFC fans will be eating humble pie by the end of this transfer window. We're moving for players. I can feel it.

Is he a Rafael Hernandez type character? Was retweeted by someone I follow.

This brought some optimism to myself until "I can feel it". Also one of those free lance journalists with minute reputation.

I hope we give Varela or Janko some senior game time this season. I don't like seeing Jones or Smalling anywhere but centre back.

Serge is part of "Stretty News" a YouTube channel with an objective view on all things united. Worth watching some of their stuff I think.

Thats a lot of money to warm the bench...

They thought about the £10k to install underground heating, but as they are City, they thought "feck it, it can't be as effective as using a real human being to warm it", so decided to spend £7.5 million a year instead.

The Ducker article is the same one that was posted on here yesterday. No new information.

Strootman and Schweinsteiger would be good but still one short, especially given Strootman is injured

Considering Strootman's injury, those two wouldnt be enough imo. We'd still be short, for the first couple of months of the season anyways.

and who will you have as backup and who as first choice? No point carrying around 2RBs, particularly when you are not in Europe and when you can use likes of Jones as backup at RB if needed.
I'm not that gone on Rafael anyway so if it was up to me Sagna would be first choice. Much better player.

Personnally i don't really care, if we sign Strootman and Schweini we're good, it's not like Carrick, Fellaini or Cleverley are incompetent. We can be very competitive with them too and be even better when Strootman comes.

With Strootman's injury, and Schweini's questionable injury record, we could quite conceivably buy both this Summer and still start the season with the same midfield as last. Which would be horrendous. No doubt these two would be a massive massive upgrade, but I'd like a third too, as an insurance policy if you like.

Even more reason to get someone else this Summer then, Schweini on his own isn't enough, not even close. Our midfield needs a complete overhaul.

I already said that last night, Schweinsteiger alongside Pogba or Vidal would be great.

Or Fabregas :nervous::angel:

In all seriousness though, Schweinsteiger would be a great start, I just hope LVG realises just how dire the midfield situation is.

I'd like 3-4-5 midfielders but that won't happen, when two very good could. And i don't think that our midfielders are that bad i think that we stopped playing like a team a long time ago and that our midfield have been the first victim of that.

Cleverley and Fellaini are good players, Carrick too but SAF and Moyes weren't great tactically.
