Cavani is one of those strikers that everyone thinks is world class only because everyone says his world class.

Would rather Rooney.

Cavani excelled in Serie A, done alright in Ligue 1 and was basically non existent in the CL and WC.

Do not want.

Nothing against Cavani, but surely the only place we need someone less is in goal. So why spend 50m +? That would sort us out with a winger and a cb.

Hope not. He's very good, but doesn't fit the mould of player we need to be looking for.
In a way he would be the ideal replacement for Suarez in that he has excellent work ethic and is the supreme team player. In saying that though, there are quite a few other forwards who are more suitable.

Me too,
I'd rate him as a 'best of the rest' kind of striker. Hes not on the same level as RVP, Rooney, Aguerro or Benzema say but he's probably the closest striker to that bracket imo.

What kind of player are liverpool looking for now anyway Barney?

No, he's one who everyone thinks is overrated because they've watched him play about 5 games. Stick him up front as the main man and he'll guarantee you 30 goals a season, he's one of the best strikers in the world, as he showed at Napoli.

I would be more than happy signing Cavani if we needed a striker but we don't so there is no point. Spend that money on Vidal if he is available.

His goal record speaks for itself.
Goals aren't everything. His game has really declined since his injury and he seems to be struggling to get back into form and playing out wide for PSG isn't helping him. Spending the kind of money required to sign Cavani is a huge risk because there's no guarantee that he gets his form back. Before his injury he was faster, more agile and quicker to shift his weight and get a shot away. Right now he's quite a few levels below what he was at Napoli.

At the moment you look at the way he struggles to get the ball out of his feet and it makes you wonder, is this the same Cavani?

Di Marzio saying that Evra agent is in Rio to prepare his player strategy in order to convince United to sell him.

He's not on the same level as Benzema? Not sure what you've been watching over the years.

Someone whos surname starts with an S.

I understand Evra, tbh. LvG loves to work with young players and Shaw would probably get all the important minutes. Evra is an ultra competitive guy and wants to play week in week out, but he knows this won't be happening here. It was fishy that we took the option on another year because mostly that's against the will of a player and it shows that it might have been the case.

I think Evra deserves to be let go without to much resistance. I would love to keep him but keeping a player that has done so much for us against his will simply is a mistake IMO.

You can say exactly the same for Wayne Rooney. Who is better, incidentally.

Urg, Twitter have changed their font, yuck!

Don't think there's anything I can do about the homepage feed as that comes from Twitter, but I'll double check.

£25m for Alexis Sanchez? Arsene has lost his marbles!

Also, it would appear we are interested so it hurts even more knowing we properly won't get in.

Seems like Cavani is being massively overrated. For me he's a better striker than Rooney and RVP is only marginally better than him. Because the gap is so small between the three of them, it seems pretty pointless us signing him. I don't get it but if we were to sign him, I'd probably be excited.

Been away from the caf today, twitter thread has shot up, are we any clearer to who we are after?

Jeez I hope this Cavani shit buggers off.

Barca were trying to get Suarez for £48m only a few hours ago... Now £80m?!

He's going to end up going for £60-65m isn't he
