Dont get mad at me, but one of them is Cavani i believe. The other two i think are Hummels and Vidal.

If cavani is the dud of the window we've done brilliantly. However I think it will be De Vrij, Carvalho and Vermearlen.
If we end up with Hummels, Herrera, Shaw, Vidal and Cavani I wouldn't kick Ed Woodward out of bed for farting, I tell you.

He won't play as a striker though. He'll be a part of our wide options in a 4-3-3 formation with Van Persie taking the striker spot. The fact that playing on the wing for PSG has been the reason for Cavani's unhappiness is an entirely different matter though.

I would personally prefer Sanchez over Di Maria or Cuadrado but I suppose there isn't much ya can do if Sanchez wants Champions League football and to live in London.

The Cavani of Napoli would be much welcomed, he was one of the best strikers in Europe on that form. Surely he is better than Hernandez/Welbeck?

Exactly. So many guess-formations slot Welbeck in the front 3 yet as soon as you replace him with Cavani it becomes cause of mass suicide for some reason. I think Cavani 'do not wantism' has become a bit of a meme to be honest.
If we'd just signed Hummels and Vidal, we could go on to sign Eboue for £30m and I'd still be enjoying a vague sense of enlightenment. Turning your nose up at Cavani in that situation would be odd in the extreme.
He definately mentions that Fergie liked Hummels, but had doubts about his mobility, strength and speed just like Moyes. Van Gaal is a big fan. He said that we bid for Cavani, but he doesnt want to play second fiddle to RvP like now for PSG. Cavani was a Moyes target, but van Gaal likes him. Bid made for Cavani according to him. Problem is Cavanis wages, 10 million euros net. United wont pay that they believe he would be 2nd striker. He wrote about Hummels 4 weeks ago, Cavani last week. Maybe our targets have shifted. Long before that he mentioned Kroos, Müller and Robben as targets. Reus and Hummels too. Carvalho and Mangala would go in to the background (Moyes targets). That is just one source and opinion though. He doesnt know everything.

Agreed. Formations are just a pretty graphic for broadcasters to show who is playing and where they will be standing for kick off. We all know by now that through transitions of the game and different phases the formation and roles of players change. Cavani joining would send the shit up our rivals. Whilst he may be questionably third choice striker he'd be first at every other club in the prem (if we consider suarez is off and Aguero is the only other striker who would displace him) and yes he's better than Costa IMO

All great players, no doubt. I don't think they'd work well together though. None of those players wants to play wide, and two of them would have to, to fit them in one side. If we're gonna spend £60 million on a player (the reported fee for Cavani) it would make a lot more sense to get someone who's adept at playing wide in a 4-3-3, like Sanchez or Di Maria, don't you think?
