Regardless of who else we sign, we need another quality CM. That's our most pressing need and the transfer window has to be considered a failure unless we meet it. Even the signing of Strootman in January could be too late.
If we got Di Maria he could do that when needed, proved to be great there for Madrid last season.

EDIT: Not saying that I'd want him as first choice CM, but he'd be a fine option there at times.

€40m for Di Maria is about right.

The people who thought we wouldn't have any trouble at all getting players without CL are gonna look a bit silly this summer I think...

€25m for Sanchez is ridiculously low but that is a team that sold Fabregas for €35m so they might still accept that.

Yeah a fat Northern Irish bloke definitely holds more sway than Wenger. Anfield is a dump, too, in comparison the Emirates. In fact, I'd say avoid letting him anywhere near 20 miles of the stadium until he's signed.

I dunno who I would prefer out of the two.

I think Di Maria is the better player, but has not impressed this world cup at all, which I guess could work in our favour...

I hope Rodgers doesn't have a wee chat with Sanchez.

£40m? Hmmmm, not sure about that one.
We couldn't expect much less. Maybe you could feel 32-33 million would be fair but for a player of his calibre, 7-8 million shouldn't keep us from getting him. He's certainly better value at that price than the two players we've bought so far.

Liverpool's twitter. So bad...

It looks like a video game cut screen

Fecking Moyes....

Sorry but this is such short sighted on the players behalf. Yes, Arsenal/Liverpool both have UCL football this season but what's to say they will next year and we won't? Especially on Liverpool's behald anyway, without Suarez they could easily slip out the top four again after their one season wonder. I know it's all hypothetical but let's be honest, it's not as if either side will win it next season anyway.

€50 million euros is what the Spanish press have quoted but i'm pretty sure Woody could negotiate the price down.

Agreed! Hoping that if Sanchez goes to Arsenal, we end up back in the top 4, only for them to fall out of it.

Very short sighted, but I guess they are "guaranteed" CL football, whereas right now, we can only offer the likelihood of it.

Barca and Madrid are such twats. Whoring some of their best players just to buy the flavours of the month.

I think it's quite a good price for him really. We paid 30m for a central midfielder and a left back, and as great as those 2 are, they aren't in Di Maria's class. Di Maria is 26, so in his prime, but is a world class player, arguably one of the best wingers in the world. Robben is better, as is Ronaldo, but then he is in the class of Reus, Sanchez, Bale, Ribery IMO. 40m for someone who is one of the best in his position, as a winger, playing for Real Madrid, it's a very fair price in todays market.
