Perhaps we should consider that ambassador role, controversial as it is? Seems like sour grapes to be honest. A bit disappointed in him.

How many times will this 'joke' story be posted?
The funny thing is that isn't a joke. They were serious to make the bid (although it is four months, not four years). Anyway, even if SUarez somehow would have accepted it, it would be impossible considering that Kosovo despite not being part of FIFA, still it is part of the FIFA transfer system.

Vidal would massively improve us. If he wants to come and we need to raise money to pay for it, we can sell Rooney or Hernandez to cover a third to a half of it, presumably. Cleverley or Fellaini would fetch us another 6-8 (based on Livermore and rumours) or 12-15 too, I figure.

Just like you weren't in the same class as Zidane...Scholes.

Sorry had to, He's turned into a bit of a dick of late. No need for such comments, especially when Ander hasn't even played a game for us yet. His comments on Rooney were a bit unnecessary as well.

Agree. Seems he's making up for all those years of not saying nowt. Tarnishing his hero status at Man Utd. Next we'll hear, he's got a coaching job at city.....

I'm a bit of a cheapskate and considering we've already spent 60 million and probably need to buy two more players besides Vidal (winger plus CB), I would be surprised (and slightly concerned) if we forked out more than 50 million on one player.

Doesn't really matter, though, if the story is true and 45 million will do it.
We're not in a position to haggle. Moyes made sure of that. We're probably going to have to pay a premium a CL team would not for Vidal and I think that's fair enough. A deal which is incentive and trophy based may be on the cards, so a £45m rising to £50m, for example, isn't out of the question.
By the way, don't agree with the comparisons between Vidal and Roy Keane. Vidal is a much more attacking and technically gifted player.

It's more about his energy and ability to galvanise a team and fanbase with his approach to the game than a direct comparison of him as a player.

Vidal is the kind of player that will have OT rocking and his own team mates playing harder and with more intensity.

Yeah....A week or two before the World Cup...I'm not English but, seriously....What a clown for doing it then

No good been sad we didn't get a player when it is highly likely that player doesn't want to come!

I think we have done well to get Herrera in and am really looking forward to seeing what he can do, Kroos talk can beggar off now.

I see many people here as expected being totally fecking idiots as always and calling Scholes names. He mostly talks about how quality player Kroos is and says we United haven't brought anyone of his quality. I don't see what is wrong in that. Is Herrera a better quality than Kroos? Does even Herrera's mum think so?

Just a quick question....

If Roy Keane was on ITV right now, and he said what Scholes has said, what would you think?

Kroos is Germany's best player imo. It's stupid to say Vidal is a couple of levels above him. they're totally different players but I'd say they're both absolutely class at what they do. Scholes is just a fan of Kroos, and I can see why. Still though, silly thing to say and it will dent Herrera's confidence. Herrera, like Vidal, is a different sort of player to Kroos. Hopefully Scholes corrects himself on that stupid comment.

To be fair on Scholes it is highly likely he has no idea that what he is saying is causing any offence what so ever.

The guy is a legend and will only ever want the best for the United, he is just earning a few quid from a bookie that is renowned for negative advertising.

If Keane was coming out with half the things Scholes is people would be telling him to feck off.

I get that some of you might not agree with Scholes but sometimes it feels that people don't want him/anyone associated with the club to say anything unless it's positive. Surely it's much better to have someone tell it how he feels than just toe the party line or just repeat the same thing the majority of other pundits get. It's definitely worth a lot more to have people actually give an honest opinion than look to stay in people's good books and just say what they want to here or blindly defend however the club operates.

Kroos is the nearest thing I have ever seen to Scholes so it is a shame he's not on our radar, Herrera and Vidal would be brilliant signings though

Absolutely, the headline makes what he said sound controversial when in fact, as I read it, he was merely being very complementary about Kroos not running down Herrera at all.

It's more the fact that every other day, a paid United ambassador seems to be criticizing both our players and the club's decisions. First Rooney was past his peak, next our Shaw signing proved how mad the game has gone and now, we bought the wrong midfielder. Not the greatest ambassadorial work.

If Madrid obtaining Kroos means we have a chance at Vidal, then... I'll take that.

TBF it's a bit of sensationalist click bait headline from DM. He didn't say anything bad.

‘I love watching Toni Kroos,’ Scholes enthused, 'I think he’s brilliant
'I love the way he controls the ball and controls games. He can really play a pass and has superb vision.
'Kroos is capable of scoring goals too, from outside the box on either foot.
‘I just wish Man United had signed him. Yes, it is good to see United bringing in new players, but they haven’t signed anything like the quality of Kroos.’

I think it's good analysis from Scholes. He mentions Kroos' ability to set the tempo for games and how we haven't signed that kind of a midfielder yet. It's not even an indictment of Ander, they're both entirely different kind of players offering different qualities that are coexistant. Herrera is a classic box to box with great agility and drive like an inferior version of Keane. While Kroos is a withdrawn playmaker and cracking passing ability like an inferior version of Scholes. I think that's what Scholes is trying to stress upon, how we don't have a top class midfielder adept at controlling games from the centre now that Carrick is on the wane.

The only problem with that is that whilst it's true Kroos can dictate games and we have severely lacked that, we also need some defensive diligence in midfield. Kroos is just far too pedestrian and luxurious in midfield, especially when our defence is probably now the weakest it has ever been. We could get away with in the past as Scholes had Keane, and also had the likes of Vidic, Ferdinand, Stam etc... At the back.

Wasn't wanted in the new set up probably? Don't know. Just speculation
He said it before LvG came that Kroos is the midfielder United should be looking at, he's a big fan so just a bit dissippointed. I'd not call bitter, but a bit disrespectful to our new boy.

He rates Kroos. Not sure what's the problem with what he said. Paul knows a heckuva lot more on the game than most anyway.

As a pundit he is paid to give his opinions and not paid to portray Man United in a positive light. It would be different if he was a current player or a coach but he is neither.

Yeah true I suppose...I still do think he's dig at Rooney, before a world cup, was incredibly stupid.

And I don't even like Rooney

They don't read the articles. They see the headlines and just think that Scholes has said something bad and is anti United. The poster above proved it by saying scholes slammed Rooney.

I don't see what's the problem with what Scholes said. Kroos and Herrera are the same age and at this point Kroos is easily the one with the most achievements and also the better player. But it doesn't matter that much, because we needed a Herrera type of player, not someone like Kroos.

Hmm that's true mate but maybe he knows something we don't. Maybe Van Gaal has let it be known to Giggsy that we'll be playing a 4-3-3 next season and that particular bit of information has been passed onto Paul. And TBF in that particular system we could easily accommodate both Kroos and Herrera alongwith a more defensively sound midfield enforcer like Pirlo (Kroos), Seedorf (Ander), Gattuso (?) for Milan. Again this is just me hypothesising. Who knows what's really going on in Scholesy's mind. :)
