Still doesn't really make sense. Southampton gave him a chance. If we didn't pay that for him he'd still be playing first team football at Southampton.
We'd don't have foreign stars because English players are expensive. It's often because they're just better, offer something else, or are just good players in their own right.

Will Hughes (for example) being cheaper may make a top club more willing to buy him, but it wont do anything to guarantee him a 'chance'.
And United paying £27 million for Shaw doesn't do anything to stop West Ham or West Brom giving youngsters a chance, does it?

We must be the only English club that gets rode buying English based players, but sells a player for a reasonable fee to English clubs. You have to respect United for that. They want a player to move on, or he wants to move on & we dont price him out of his move. Thats sadly never mentioned in the media...

Hope it's not the real kit.. :(

The Brazillian? Miranda.

Spanish newspaper AS reports on Friday on Manchester United's continued attempts to sign Miranda from Atletico Madrid. It's worth going over what has previously been said in Spain on the potential transfer, because it's been all over the place!

Today, Friday June 27th, AS say that Atletico have again told Manchester United it's €30m or nothing. The Old Trafford club's spending elsewhere probably hasn't gone unnoticed. It's again claimed that Miranda wants the transfer to happen.

I use FF & have adblocker. But i've turned that off & still cant see the twats.. sorry tweets! I've restarted aswell, so i'm obviously missing something somewhere.

Thanks for the reply Bistro..

Weird!

No problem, hopefully you fix it. :)

A lot of money for a guy we can't realistically expect to be at the top of his game for more than three seasons. I'd rather we looked elsewhere.

Ducker's tweet above for those who can't see it:

I reckon #mufc will sign at least two more players, a centre half and another midfielder, from the conversations I've had today

I think our top targets are Schweinsteiger/Hummels/Vidal, with Strootman/Vermaelen/De Vrij being the back up options.

He plays one good game for Belgian and now the English media believe he will be a steel? Muppets

We did that shit with Poborsky - after his chipping of the keeper in Euro 96.

We could/should have signed Nedved instead of that muppet. Could never understand the Poborsky signing & still cant to this day..

One moment of class & Fergie went after him. He must have been pissed up on Vin Rouge in his Riviera Villa & got on the blower to that f*ckbag Kenyon to buy him. Reminds me of that scene in "Taken" with Liam Nesson, where a load of arabs are bidding for the girl of the hour:

"More wine you c*nt.. hurry up.. pour quicker.. that was some goal eh laddie? Now f*ck off - i've an important phone call to make ffs.."

"Pete - get that laddie Poor Borstel Boy.. or whatever the f*ck his name is.. triffik player.."

Do you not think it might be a bit unwise to move clubs now. He's still only young and just got promoted to the premier league after scoring a lot of goals for them. I would say he's better off staying as he knows the club, If he moves he has to settle in a new club as well as a new league. Much more likely to have a better season at burnley and cement himself as a good player, then get his move. Otherwise he may just be another player who moves too soon and ends up in the championship for most of his career, which happens to too many young british players.
Any transfer is a risk, especially when you're stepping up from the championship to the premiership.
If it was me, I'd rather be playing for a club established in the premiership than one who will likely struggle. But you're right, familiar surroundings would be ideal. It's one he'd have to weigh up obviously.

My money is on (in order of preference):
Center half - Hummels / Miranda/ Vermaelen

'Midfielder' depends on the formation LVG plans on using. If 3-5-2 then a more central player will be a priority:
Vidal / Schwinsteiger / Strootman

This 3-5-2 would explain Evra and Valencia's contract renewals imo. A lot of running required from wing backs, which is where the backups would come in. Evra for Shaw and Valencia for Rafael. The defensive frailties of Evra and especially Valencia, would be less exposed with 3 center backs behind them.

If 4-3-3 then another winger, or inside forward really:
Sanchez / Depay

its strange how there are no quality english central midfielders! United starting 11 could be made up of less and less british players as time goes on. worrying signs.

Said the same day we paid £30 million for an 18 year old English full back.

Quick question related somewhat to the twitter thread...........

Are the remainder of our reported targets all in Brazil?

De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind and Depay are with Holland = still in Brazil.

Sanchez and Vidal are with Chile = still in Brazil.

Thomas can't remember how to spell his bloody surname but I'll have a go, Vermaelen is with Belgium = still in Brazil.

Is Miranda with the Brazil squad?

Is there any names I'm missing?
