Isn't this tapping up?![/QUOTE]

Barcelona just fishing to see if they get a bite!!

I reckon Carvalho might stay at Sporting another year, too soon for a big move I reckon.

Yep. He needs to prove he's worth spending big money on. For some it's just obvious that that have 'it' straight away, he's not one of those.

I went to school with Ings. Its be ideal move for all parties I think. Local lad who is showing a lot of potential in the championship and for the U21s. He'd love the move.

Do you not think it might be a bit unwise to move clubs now. He's still only young and just got promoted to the premier league after scoring a lot of goals for them. I would say he's better off staying as he knows the club, If he moves he has to settle in a new club as well as a new league. Much more likely to have a better season at burnley and cement himself as a good player, then get his move. Otherwise he may just be another player who moves too soon and ends up in the championship for most of his career, which happens to too many young british players.

Liverpool moving rapidly in the transfer market. Deals for Origi & Lallana almost done and now a move for Benfica's Lazar Markovic too.

So McDermott reckons we'll get one of a number of players who all play different positions? Makes no sense.

Chelsea have first option on markovic dont they ? He is good, but he, sterling, lallana all play a similar role. I think they have suso too. Why sign so many attackers when they need defenders?

That makes no sense. Unless he's being sarcastic

It does make sense as I think his point is look how much young English talent costs, no wonder the PL has so many foreign stars. Okay Shaw already played in the PL at Southampton but I'll forgive him that oversight.

You would also think that if PL clubs do give their young English talent a chance you too could be making a fortune on them if sold on, as they sell at a premium.

The fault lies with the selling clubs in that case, no?

Yes I don't think he was blaming us. I think we need a system where young English players can move up through the divisions at the price that suits everyone. Shaw was already a PL player so that doesn't count but when players who are playing in the second of third tier have asking prices of £5m and above I think the FA need to step in. The balance is too heavily weighted in favour of compensation for the selling club.

EDIT: Added info:

The game will feature the likes of Paul Breitner, Mark Van Bommel, Owen Hargreaves, Giovane Elber, Paul Scholes and Dwight Yorke.

Hearing £10m for Origi - with the year-long loan back to Lille part of the attraction for the selling club. What a steal for Liverpool.

So because we're buying a young english player in the premier league, this limits young english players playing... Makes sense.

No it means that club's don't want want to buy English players, who cost a bomb and thus bring in cheaper foreign imports.

Andy Hunter - #LFC are prepared to improve their attacking options by making an offer for Lazar Markovic, who has a £20m release clause

He's right in the fact, if there were more English kids in teams, then prices would come down as they are not a rarity. There are so few that's why they cost so much. As soon as anyone half decent comes along their price sky rockets.

“I am sure that the event will be a very special one.”-Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the charity game against United.

Still doesn't really make sense. Southampton gave him a chance. If we didn't pay that for him he'd still be playing first team football at Southampton.
We'd don't have foreign stars because English players are expensive. It's often because they're just better, offer something else, or are just good players in their own right.

Will Hughes (for example) being cheaper may make a top club more willing to buy him, but it wont do anything to guarantee him a 'chance'.
And United paying £27 million for Shaw doesn't do anything to stop West Ham or West Brom giving youngsters a chance, does it?

The PL clubs fill their academies with foreign kids, that's where a lot of the problem lies. There should be a limit and they should be made to bring so many english kids through. What is the point of academies if they are not producing future players for your team. The fees they get for selling kids to lower teams for a million here and a million there surely doesn't make them viable. We are back to the old chestnut of coaching not being good enough. That is a long argument that they say will sorted but of course it won't.

So, he knows it but it's just his opinion? I take it you don't have to make sense to have your tweet quoted/retweeted anymore. If you make an extremely vague, self-contradictory statement it's okay so long as you have included a few buzz words.

Just naming all the players we have been linked with recently so that he will look informed if we sign one of them (also covering himself on the 'none' angle!)

That daft idiot Didi is thinking Shaw is going to be benched here. When actually he will go straight ahead of Evra.

Or maybe there aren't actually that many young English players good enough? Would it matter if Zaha cost us half a million or £12 million? He still wouldn't be in the first team.

And it's not like teams are full of players like Kovačić and other foreign youngsters either.
