Awful everytime i've watched Porto play and they want a ridiculous price for him

thats where i disagree with you. having watched enough of Mangala i know that he just needs a bigger stage. He is more athletic then hummels, stronger as well. his positional sense needs work because at the moment he makes up for it by quickly getting back into position by means of his speed. this part of his game might be inferior to hummels. but as a prospect to play for united, i would pick mangala over hummels.
 
Really not convinced about Mangala from the little I've seen. Varane is class but likely unattainable. I also think Hummels is a bit error prone and not that exceptional an actual defender, just brilliant on the ball. He's still better than what we have but if we could go for anyone I'd have Benatia, who looks a perfect all round defender.

ive seen him have off days as well. like any other player, including hummels who just isnt a CB for the premier league imo.
 
I guess the dilemma is to go for Hummels and have him there for the next few years, or get Vermaelen who can be a steady back-up if Jones doesn't rise to the occasion and bring Hummels in next year

If BVB accepts to sell Hummels, I wouldn't wait any minute. He is an absolutely fantastic defender that I rate very highly and IMO would become immediately the best in EPL.

I also think that next year, Reus release clause can be activated so I wouldn't get bothered that much if we don't go for Sanchez as long as we start talking with Reus for next season.

Vermaelen really is shite though. A defender that can't defend. Give me a non risen Jones every day of the week.

Think Sanchez would be the one. He's played in Italy and Spain so if we got him, we'd get his best years. If Reus has another big year, I think the competition to sign him will be too much and let's face it, we don't sign German players.

For that I said to start talking with him now (we all know that this 'illegal' thinks happen). Personally I would like to wait for a year and get Reus rathe than get Sanchez now (assuming that this is the dilemma) but I would also be delighted with Sanchez. Both fantastic players but Reus is clearly better IMO and probably a level above.
 
Martins Indi seems like the logical choice. LvG knows him, he's young with a lot of potential and I doubt Feyenoord will be able to fend off a decent transfer offer.

Is he any good though? Holland team isn't that great now (in terms of quality of players) so him playing for them doesn't mean much. Vlaar is their best defender FFS.

To be honest I haven't seen him play more than 7-8 times but I think he's highly regarded (again though he's playing in the Dutch league). He will probably go to Porto or something before moving on in 2-3 years time for triple the fee.

It's been a wonderful day of muppetry why are the fecking Vermaelen rumours back? Never mind whether he is any good, he just has to look at a football pitch and bit's of his body start to fall apart.
 
MEN reporting that Woodward is in constant contact with Van Gaal and further reinforcements are expected in defence and midfield.
