Also it's even harder raising money when other clubs know you have to sell.

If we do sell Welbeck, we should honestly add a buy back clause in the deal.
Its simple !
If Danny wants to be a squad player then keep him but if he wants to play regular then he as to go .
If were spending 50/60 mill on adm and another god knows what on 2 more players maybe then the club may want to cash in to recoup some money back .
I would offer wellbeck to arsenal and ask for Ramsey and I'd chuck smalling in to if were buying another cb.

Duncan Castles is a bullshitting abu moron.

Raise £50m in player sales in less than a week by selling someone with a broken foot and who else exactly?

They could have a one day firesale and get rid of Milner, Lescott, Richards and Nastasic and still wouldn't even come close to raising enough money.

And they can't actually sell any English players anyway because of the homegrown quota

Can't believe that twat gets paid to write such intelligence-insulting, ignorant dribble.
Unless Ethiad come in with a nice big sponsorship deal?

Thank God you are not in charge of our transfers. Chuck Smalling too? I mean this is the same guy many on here think is one of the better CBs we have.

No chance.
There aren't any clubs outside the top 6 who can afford pay you £20m for Welbeck. And I doubt there any top 6 sides who'd be willing to pay you £20m.

Reckon Southampton could, and maybe Newcastle, if we're not going to be stupid about it then i'd say Spurs would be the best bet, even though they are top 6 it's doubtful he'd improve them too much to push them higher up then their usual position.

Think a loan move to Newcastle/Southampton is the most realistic outcome for Danny, given his relatively low wages,

This scares me

Manchester City join the race to sign #MUFC target Angel di Maria, claim @DuncanCastles http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/sport/football/Premiership/article1450275.ece…

Wouldn't let it bother you really

City can spend a net of £49m is it this year?
Apparently they've spent £53m and sold £23m worth of players this window (with a couple to go). That means they've got £19m left to spend, and would need to raise, given the figures being touted around £40m+ in just a few days. If they wanted to sell their players quick, i'd assume it'd be at a cut down price, but in all honesty, who've they got left to sell to make up that much money? It just wouldn't happen. Looks to me like Castles is just doing his ABU crap and is trying to stir up some hate.

Plus, if City really did want him, they'd have done the deal a lot sooner, and wouldn't leave it until the last week of the window. Once PSG effectively pulled out of the deal, City would have known they had a real chance, so they'd have been right in there.

Their only saleable assets are Negredo and Nastasic. Both of whom are only wanted by clubs who certainly can't afford to splurge. Negredo without a broken foot would maybe get a £20m offer from Atletico Madrid, at best, at short notice. Nastasic has been linked with moves back to Italy for £10m or less.

No one is keen on either because Negredo has a broken foot and Nastasic has a bad recurring knee injury that has caused his form and fitness to plummet.

Selling Welbeck would be awful, in 2-3 years Hernandez will be 28/29 and RVP Rooney in their 30's, I can understand his frustration, but why not loan him out incase Robin fades quicker than we think or has bad injuries, especially if Hernandez wants out, unless Cavani is on his way in, but I'd rather us focus midfield...

You really believe Arsenal would swap Ramsey for Welbeck? Ask Arsenal fans...

No, Cavani isn't the answer. We are over stacked with strikers as it is. In your hypothetical time span, sure RvP and Rooney will be knocking into their early-to-mid-thirties but James Wilson will be 21 with hopefully some decent game time under his belt. He and Januzaj are special talents, and need to be treated so, in my opinion. I'd be happy seeing Welbeck leaves - if this is what he wants due to game time reasons - and promoting Wilson in his stead to play as a third/fourth choice striker.

They aren't getting £75m off anybody and with 1 week left of the window they won't want a unwanted player on the bench all season, he will leave for around €70m

Heh, the price keeps on increasing. It'll be done at between 50-60m.

Price increases every hour or what ?

They are as desperate to sell as we are to buy surely ? No other prospective buyers at these levels either.

It will just be Perez trying to make himself look like a hard bargainer as he knows the Real fans don't want him to go. It is could already be sorted.

It won't fall through, it's already done. Di Maria will be ours next week. Giving enough time to declare more signings by the 1st
I agree, i can't see it falling through now.

If it's actually true that Angel has chosen United and i assume has provisionally accepted personal terms, you have to believe that we've been talking to Real for quite a while and a fee will be very close to being agreed. We'd have known how much Real want for him, and chances are we've knocked them down a bit, or are happy to pay what they want, but not all at once. I can't see us being in for di Maria, having him agree to join us, then pulling out because Real want too much.

In all of the stories from here and from Spain, it's quite obvious that the price being quoted in pounds and euros have somehow gotten mixed up. Either way, Real Madrid aren't in a position where they can be dictating how much they want. No-one has outbid our original offer, we know Di Maria wants to come here and we know they want to sell him. We are hardly going to rush to throw an extra £25m at them for no reason.

I think madrid are indeed playing hard ball. Infact, I fully believe that united have been negotiating with them for quite a while and thats why it is taking so long to conclude. PSG would have no problem paying the obscene figures mentioned if it wasnt for FFP.

I think United were willing to pay upto 55m but madrid want to recoup as much of the rodriguez fee as possible and thats why this is such a long drawn out bid. In the end madrid do need to sell, so the closer it goes to the deadline, their stance may soften. But they will probably not go very low. I think daniel taylor is probably correct...60m gbp with 8m gbp addons. Crazy money but we appear desperate.
