City made some excellent signings, but they were all entirely the products of luck. Their transfer strategy was a shambles. No fairly run club could have afforded the huge losses they made on a string of big money duds.

Robinho, Jo, SWP, Given, Ben-Haim, Lescott, Adebayor, Johnson, Santa Cruz, Dzeko, Milner, Balotelli, Boateng, Savic, Javi Garcia, Maicon, Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell, Demichelis and Jovetic. Total spent on outright duds: £330m in 6 years. Mangala and Fernando likely to be the newest to the list.

And that's just the poor signings. £45m on Bellamy, Wayne Bridge and Kolarov etc.

What about Welbeck's demands? If he was to leave, he will want to be the main striker, not be second fiddle to Lukaku!

Everton will not be his destination if he leaves. Tottenham are the highest quality club he would go to- he would fit perfectly with their philosophy. People really under-rate Welbeck's technical ability in his inter-play.

I would genuinely hate to sell baldy anything. Unless his name is Anderson.

He fits most well at Arsenal tbh at moment. They just have Sanogo and Giroud.

Probably Chelsea and Liverpool can use him as well though he won't be a starter there which he wants.

So he won't go to Everton to second fiddle to Lukaku and you propose Spurs...who have Soldado and Adebayor and both would play before Welbeck.

I won't even go there, but you should reassess your judgement on Soldado and Adebayot. Not just on goals scored but what they bring to the team.

I'm still convinced that Welbeck is a much better winger than he is a striker. He's just more suited to it.

Di Maria, Januzaj, Valencia and Welbeck. That could be our group of wingers right there; plenty of speed, trickery and rotation options. That's what should happen, in my opinion.

And what happens to Young? Kagawa could also be used on the left. If RVP stays fit, then there is no choice but to play Kagawa on the wing because Rooney and Mata will be #10's. We can talk about moving him on but the fact of the matter is he is still here.

I'm hoping Welbeck is only loaned out rather than sold
That could be a good option. LVG can see first hand how bad Young and Valencia are and might move them on next summer. Maybe even Kagawa and Cleverley if they don't get enough playing time.

Does this means Di Marzio is also in on it as this guy translates for Di Marzio or does this Amoyal have his own sources as well.

Nah, this is his own source based on whatever. Probably calculated guesswork or Pilib De Brun fella.

Di Marzio will post it on his timeline if he has a update first. This guy translates for him and along with couple of others runs the English website.

Do we really need him? We already have Shaw as our starting LB (hopefully) and cover in Rojo. What's the point of blowing another £15m on a player we've no room for?
He'll be your holding midfielder.

Worth a punt at £8m?

I think so, I admit I have seen nothing of him but the youtube video but he is very highly rated and I imagine that even if he doesn't make the grade here we'll be able to sell him on without losing money, much like we did with Tosic.

Welbeck + £10m for Ramsey would be a lovely deal in my books :wenger:

+10 mil? They asked for Smalling/Jones in return. We should simply ask for Ramsey for Welbeck. No money should be thrown at those feckers after what they tried to pull off with the Vermaelen deal. If true, it's amazing how thick they are that they can even believe we will consider selling them Welbeck.

Why the feck should we sell Welbeck to Arsenal strengthening a key weak point of theirs? We are trying to get fourth, depleting our strike force and adding to theirs is stupid to me.

It's misplaced optimism on Arsenal's part.

They made signing Vermaelen impossible for us, and he was pushing to leave. We're under no pressure to sell Danny, and he still has two years on his contract. I'm sure LvG would be quite happy for him to stay in the squad, and Danny is not the type to try and force a move.

We won't sell to a top 6 team.

They have apparently asked him to delay and are raising the cash through player sales.

They need to raise £40m don't they? Who they going to sell?

Negredo is injured and he is the only player who could get a significant fee around £25m.

And not forgetting foreign player quota.

It's a nothing story. Calm down chaps. City spinning some crap to try and steal United's thunder. Small time mentality. Earlier the story was that they had snubbed his signing plenty of times already this summer.

The article says they'll need to raise around 50m in player sales. Who are they selling?

Nobody will buy Negredo due to the fact that now hes injured.
Typical media bullshit

"Hmm ok the deal seems done... Let's throw a city into the mix and say they are interested to get website hits"

Also Jamie Jackson just retweeted another journalist who just spoke to a city official who said hey rejected the chance to sign him earlier this summer. Castles is making up the rest to piss us off and get hits on the website.

I don't think they have enough time to raise 50m if we agree to that reasoning for a moment. Second, selling Negredo is a risk because of injury troubles of Aguero and Jovetic and Negredo himself is injured at the moment so they will have troubles raising money as per his market value. Third, they are well covered in wide areas so don't exactly need Di Maria. So, only reason they will go for him is stopping him to join us, but because of FFP it will be tough. It can also be Real Madrid pushing the rumours to make us pay up the additional 5m or so where there might be still negotiations on.

Agreed. It's insanely difficult to raise 50 million, especially when it's on short notice, and especially when the buying club knows that you're desperate to sell. They'd need to unload three players, I imagine. In the meantime, I presume that our offer is already on the table and can be finalized in literally hours.

I'd trade him for wilshere. I think Jack's career is going off the rails at the moment and he needs a manager who believes in him and a new set up. LVG could be that guy.

Castles is shit stirring. He loves pissing off United fans. He posted an article a day before we signed Rojo saying Rojo was blocked from travelling making it seem as if the deal was in jeopardy.

Duncan Castles is a bullshitting abu moron.

Raise £50m in player sales in less than a week by selling someone with a broken foot and who else exactly?

They could have a one day firesale and get rid of Milner, Lescott, Richards and Nastasic and still wouldn't even come close to raising enough money.

And they can't actually sell any English players anyway because of the homegrown quota

Can't believe that twat gets paid to write such intelligence-insulting, ignorant dribble.

I couldn't care less about Jack's career. He is not our youth product who we have to save. I would rather have a player who will immediately take us up a notch and that guy is Ramsey.
