Update: Further to the earlier breaking news regarding Spurs' talks regarding a move for Emmanuel Adebayor and manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed chairman Daniel Levy is speaking to Manchester City, but he is unsure what stage the negotiations are at.

He'd fit in really well at Spurs - an upgrade on Crouch without losing Crouch's main strengths. More salt in the wounds for the Arse too.

Because of this:

Orange football agent Barry Silkman was on Sky Sports News this morning with Nigel Winterburn and Perry Groves, with their task to offer opinions on who Arsenal should buy this summer.

Firstly, Silkman showed up late, presumably having been trapped in a sunbed somewhere, but when he did show up he sniggered and scoffed at the selections of both Groves and Winterburn (the usual suspects - Juan Mata, Leighton Baines, Chris Samba and so forth), on the basis that the prices quoted by the two former Arsenal men were unrealistic.

So who did Silkman (who seems to constantly be doing an impression of the granddad from 'Only Fools And Horses') suggest as more realistic option for the Gooners?

First out of the hat was Javier Mascherano, who Silkman compared with Terry Hurlock, and suggested should've been included in the Cesc Fabregas deal. Not especially helpful, that one.

The next pair were Alex for £18million and Nemanja Vidic £25million. Of course both entirely realistic targets and prices.

And finally Barcelona defender Andreu Fontàs, on the basis he saw him in a friendly against Spurs two years ago, and "kept Jermain Defoe in his pocket." That Barca only have two other specialist centre-backs, and he is rather highly rated by those in Cataluyna, did not seem to be a problem.

I've never understood why Kranjcar hasn't really made it at Spurs. He's a technically very sound player. Always rated him.
 
Oh that's for sure, he's a very sound signing IMO. Gibson would be more of a risk anyway.

To be fair, you have to click on the video and go to youtube to even get the CC button to click. I can't see why embedded videos can't have the same controls on them as they do on youtube itself.

Inter holding off for transfer request as sneijder would then give up a percentage of fee... Sneijder doesnt wanna do this hence moratti comments about untouchable rubbish... All parties want deal done but its a game of cat and mouse as mega money involved... It will be done. Hopefully by Monday. Things moving forward. Could it take longer ? Yes of course. No backup targets like goetze ATM... wages agreed for a week or so. Just a few image right issues to sort problem is Inter.
 
Inter hoping he 'requests' a transfer has been my understanding of the delay ever since he chose his words quite carefully and stated that he was very happy at Inter but if they choose to sell me I'd be happy to make the move.

It's a game of Poker that's all.

Former FM legend Simon Vukcevic is undergoing a medical at Blackburn ahead of a move from Sporting Lisbon.
 
Blackburn have also bid for George John, who plays for FC Dallas in MLS. He's been called for training camps with both the US and Greece, although he was born and raised in America. The last MLS defender Blackburn bought - Ryan Nelsen - worked out well for them.

the italian media is reporting that talks between anzhi and inter broke down for the time being. Inter want 30m euros for eto while anzhi's latest offer was 24m.

Not really,

Assuming it's not total BS, then I doubt it's a reference to Adebayor or L. Diarra, who will both be announced in the next day or so.

I'm strugging to think who we could realistically sign that might fall into the "very special" category, although I guess one person's idea of "special" may be another's "not too bad".

So unless Eto'o has decided that he already has enough money, is mad keen to play in the Prem, loves Gareth Bale and is desperate to live in London .... then who knows?
