It gets better - according to some Twitter page called Football News, we have agreed a fee of 65 million with Real for Ronaldo, and all to be done now is personal terms :D

Every summer we seem to have a variation on the cameraman story. I don't work in television, but I think it's fair to say that the station doesn't go off air when this bloke is on his hols, so they either have lots of cameramen, rostered to work certain days, regardless of us signing the bestest player in the world or, failing that, they'll call in other people who weren't originally rostered for whatever time slot they're looking to cover.

The end.

Would Rooney honestly go to Arsenal if Ronaldo came back to United? Like feck he would, he'd know he won't be winning much at Arsenal if Ronaldo was in the picture, be better to just stay at United and have a better chance of winning things. Also, as if we would sell Rooney to a domestic rival unless they paid through the nose

He'd be stupid to go to Arsenal anyway, they are a million miles and only getting further away from challenging for major honors. You saw how they celebrated finishing 4th, could you imagine Rooney with that mob? jumping around and acting like they just won the champions league at the thought of nicking a top 4 spot on the last day of the season.

It is according to another twitter account, The Insider. It is probably the most ridiculous ITK of them all, and the last thing they did wrong was that Strootman would have been United player since last Thursday.

Who is this Ben Fairthorne?

Someone claiming to be ITK due to some media background.

The idea that Fergie is spending his first few months of retirement feverishly convincing Ronaldo to come back is just plain absurd.

Well, he did say he was looking forward to watching the team without suffering with them. Maybe he wants to be a super-fan who can also dictates what he sees by bringing Ronaldo.

if he really thought Ronaldo was buyable, surely he wouldn't have been able to bring himself to retire.

That would be amazing - after years of ignoring the muppet targets, the central midfield and repeatedly talking about "value" in the market, Sir Alex then retires and turns into the ultimate transfer muppet

He might of seen it as the perfect switchover, inheriting a team with Ronaldo, RvP and Rooney would be insane.

That triple R Combo would shut up those twats who said we've lost the fear factor.

I would imagine that the financial implications of any potential move for Ronaldo would mean Rooney leaving. The 'three Rs' that you speak of will cost not far off a million pounds a week in wages.

Can people stop talking about ronaldo as if he is coming to United. It will never happen. Ever. Ever. Ever. Anyone who thinks do is an idiot. We cannot afford his fee, if we could we would spend it on bale s he is years younger. We cannot afford his wage and he wouldn't want to come back to us anyway. If he leaves madrid it will be for either ab better football team or for more money. Neither of which, for the next couple of years at least can we offer.
Sorry to be a killjoy, is just getting a bit embarrassing

What's the point of people posting definite statements like 'Player X won't be coming here' or 'Player X will definitely be signing for us'? None of us bloody know...

I think you are embarrassing. What is it with utd fans constantly underrating our team/club. If he wants to leave rm then we have as good a chance as anyone else. And if you don't think we can afford him then you nothing about this club's finances. I urge you to do some research into our projected figures. Defo not saying he will sign at all, but if you think we couldn't pay his wages then you are very wrong.

You're a sweet chap Drakkers, but you really don't know in football.
The favourite is that he's using us to get a big hike at Madrid, but there's too much about for there to be absolutely nothing in the whole rumour.

Ronaldo is the king of egos, and how they see him at Madrid is ludicrous for the goals he has scored for them. Here he'd be treated as a monumental hero, the likes of you would have the Ronaldo bedspread and shirt out again etc.

Bale coming is more unlikely.

What a fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime you are.

What a fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime you are.
Why?

I have said nothing that isn't true. And if it isn't, it isn't any less accurate than anything else written about ronaldo coming. In my opinion he and his agent are using us to get more money out of madrid. It's just going to end in disappointment when we do not get him. I agree with a previous poster that there is no smoke without fire, I'm sure we are interested, but I can't see us spending all that money and I don't see him leaving for us.
We are being led on by twitter fools who want to tease us to get more followers, I'm just saying we shouldn't fall for it.
km, if you want to go for it but calling someone a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime for disagreeing? Didn't think that of you I have to say.

I'm genuinely surprised so many people think this could happen, surely I'm not the only one who doesn't ?

Dracula old son,. just out of interest, are you one of those fans who think most of our players are crap?

Maybe we aren't spending all that money! If the rumours that we are in for him are true, then it is worth pointing out there is a rumour going around about we are going to finance the deal. We are on the verge of renewing our contract with Nike, and Nike (apparently) want the player they sponsor (Ronaldo) to be wearing Nike, week in, week out and not addidas. It is rumoured that Nike are going to put up a hefty amount of cash to make this deal happen, knowing that they will recoup the money through shirt sales within a couple of years.

I agree that this deal would never happen if it was left to us alone to finance the deal, but if Nike has a say in this deal, then you never know.

You're right. Still, there's more chance of Ronaldo coming back then you getting laid ;)

You sir, are an arse

You sir are a condescending arse.

Mourinho isn't taking a holiday this summer. 'I don't need a holiday. I'm sorry we don't start training tomorrow!'

Is it so hard to believe that a high achiever starting a new job might want to forfeit his summer holiday to get a head start? It surprises me a little that Moyes has chosen to take one.

But how much work is there really that can be done at this time? The staff's changing, we know that, the players are not around. There's just no reason not to take a small break and still be on top of things.

It's incredible that people here are moaning because Moyes has the nerve to take an holiday. What an asshole.

A head start doing what?

If we get off to a bad start this season, it'll be down to Moyes jetting off to have a holiday. The 'kin cheek of it.

Can you really not imagine? Staff and transfers mostly. Attention to detail.

Granted that Manchester United has a fantastic infrastructure but there is nothing better than being hands on. If you remember back to the Arron Ramsey transfer, we sent Gary Neville to show him round the club whilst Arsenal sent Wenger. Ramsey admitted that Wenger meeting him made him feel more wanted at Arsenal and that is why he chose to sign. Before you start, yes I know that Ramsey is no great player but the principle remains the same, it is an advantage in transfer negotiations to have the manager on the ground, especially if you don't have the money that other clubs will be offering.

With Manchester United going through the most significant transition period in 26 years and with Moyes being brand new to the job it surprises me that he chose to go on holiday. Mourinho, whatever you think of him, is the elite level manager in the game now that SAF has retired. After getting told off by a few on this board for my admittedly lazy comment, I knew that Mourinho would not be taking a holiday before I looked it up, he will not miss a single beat in his quest for glory.

KM

I am not moaning. If we do get off to a bad start I will not be blaming it on Moyes's holiday!

Perhaps it's a sign that Utd have signed a balanced individual who knows how to keep himself healthy and mentally sharp.

Mourinho could do with a holiday imo.
