A bit random I know, but the guy seems semi-reliable...

Michał Zachodny ‏@polishscout 6m

Lewandowski's agent confirmed on Polish TV - Polish striker will join Bayern over next few days.

Would make sense and everyone seems to wait for it anyway (much like Neymar to Barca)

does the transfer window still start officially on 1st July?

it hasn't for a few years now. English domestic transfers have always been allowed from midnight of the last game of the season and European is now from about 1/2 weeks into June IIRC.

Although it looks like none of the English clubs will have a marquee signing this year, as they're all heading to other European clubs. We are definitely going to fall behind in Europe.

Aren't you cheery. The season's barely more than a week over, and the transfer window isn't even officially open yet.

It might be a bit soon to start predicting the end of English football as we know it, hmmm?

Suarez to City then?

I hope not - I want him out of the league completely, not just out of Liverpool. At City he might actually do some damage (other than biting and stamping obviously). I don't think he'll go anywhere though.

It'll be interesting to see what Roman and Mansour's money will be spent on if Cavani and Falcao go as they are now expected to.

The rise of Monaco's spending power doesn't worry me too much, for now.

But with the transfer window not even open, the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern have all made moves for the top names: Neymar, Gotze, Lewandowski are all pretty much confirmed to move, Cavani and/or Suarez may move to Real Madrid as could Bale and Isco, Falcao Moutinho and Rodriguez have moved to Monaco (two we were interested in and one we could have really done with in our team). City, Chelsea and United were all linked with Cavani, Lewandowski and Falcao, and that would have significantly improved the squad had one of them signed them. But to imagine those teams getting those names, I don't see any huge signings English clubs could make? I have less doubt Ronaldo would come back to us, and Bale seems to be slightly out of the question too. Maybe Thiago or Fabregas could cheer me up :D.

What would be bad about singing Baines and Fellaini? Both good players in positions we need to strengthen.

True but you'd be looking at reportedly spending around 40-50 mil on two players, ones who's 29 and no cl experience when our own left back just had an excellent season and another player who is the price he is because of his performances as a number 10 a position we don't need him for. The position we need him for he hasn't played much for 2 seasons now. You'd think for that sort of cash we could get at least one top midfield prospect and a new fullback considering evra only cost 5 mil.

I wouldn't mind fellaini but if we have to spend upwards of 20 mil there has got to be other players we could think off.

I don't really give a shit about City or Chelsea, but I'm sure if you give them more than a week, they'll sign some good players.

As for us, not one of the players who you mention having moved is really what we need. Another striker? No thanks, especially if Rooney doesn't leave, which is looking increasingly likely.

We need a central midfielder or two. Everything else is minor tweaking compared to how badly our central midfield needs strengthening. So when all the good central midfielders have moved to other clubs and we still haven't signed anyone, you can start panicking. But to get your knickers in a twist now is ridiculous.

Also half the transfers you've mentioned haven't even happened yet. How can you be panicking because 'Suarez may move to Real Madrid, as could Bale and Isco'? By the same logic, we may be signing Thiago, Modric and Gundogan all in the same summer, instantly putting us up there with the best midfields in Europe.

We should be concentrating on the league next season, not Europe. Both of those players have loads of PL experience and would do well here. Everyone was saying Evra's defending was shit last season, and saying that Baines is too old is a load of shot considering our current left back is three years older. This is why I hate muppet season, they only care if we're linked with Spanish/La Liga players.

Yep, that's the only reason why some might consider signing Baines and Fellaini a less than satisfactory transfer window.

This is going to be a long summer filled with an abundance of transfer muppetry isn't it?.. :(

I think most of the Summer's business is getting done before the Confederations Cup, though some will be done after it too, obviously.

United usually get their transfers done early, but because Moyes doesn't officially take over for 5 weeks, we won't show our hand until then at the earliest. I think it's a safe bet that the Glazers will want to give the new boss some financial backing, if only to reassure investors, so hopefully whatever happens here will be done and dusted within the first couple of weeks of July. Until then, you can safely ignore any transfer story regarding United because it's not going to happen until Moyes gets his feet under the table.

Moyes will already have identified his targets and given a list to the club. He will not want to go into the job being weeks behind other clubs chasing people that they want

That's not true though, I don't think many would complain if Evra wanted to move and we replaced him with Baines but most don't see the point in actively selling him and bringing in Baines. As for Fellaini, I don't think there's anything wrong with not wanting him and it has nothing to do with the fact he plays for Everton.

The Caf would go into meltdown if we could sign Wilshere, so it's got nothing to do with La Liga/Spain, but you might need to come down off you high horse to see that.

People are entitled to not want Baines or Fellaini. I'd rather keep Evra and give Fabio a run than sign Baines. And for me Fellaini just doesn't suit our style and for £23m I'd much rather we looked elsewhere.

That's what I think as well. We can't let good deals pass us by just because Moyes hasn't officially taken over yet. I'm sure the club (scouts, coaching staff, Ferguson) regardless of Moyes had a few players shortlisted as well which they have informed him about.

It clearly looks like Moyes gonna create some space for youngsters, too. I don't think it's gonna be all about transfers, which it might a reasonable thing to do.

He had a few long talks with Sir Alex, already so I wouldn't be surprised if SAF gave him few ideas about the players who would fit United in the best possible way.

I agree with Geebs. Targets are propably already identified in a bigger part with possibility of adding few very young talents, later, if there's a chance of getting them.

Sorry to be the twat who has to say this, but can we leave these comments regarding our transfer business to the appropriate threads. Everytime I see this thread bumped, I constantly get excited.

Apologies.

According to recent trends from quite a lot of accounts, we're about to sign Strootman for around 17 million.

I don't know much about him, but on paper he seems like a good signing.

* Young(23 years old)
* Plays for a decent club
* Has a good assist/goal ratio for a CM
* Is a regular for the Dutch national team, despite being young
* Great fitness! His injury record is pretty much none-existent, according to transfermarkt

Seeing as Gündogan and Wilshere pretty much are off-limits, this can't be a half-bad signing, considering the stats above.

If we sign Strootman(which isn't set in stone btw as the latest reports are from caught offside) then I think people are gonna be disappointed purely because of the ridiculous hype he's been given so far.

You might be surprised KM, seeing an actual midfielder in there instead of Jones or players that can't last the 90 would be majorly refreshing.
