I reiterate, if nothing strange happens in slack days (do not think), Juan Fernando Quintero is the first Colombian to play in Manchester United.

I will mention that the Man Utd will pay an astronomical figure by Juan Fernando Quintero. Great bet.

The dates and prices for the signing of Man Utd Quintero. It's a matter of days to be made official

Good Morning: The greeting with a bombshell: They told me that Juan Fernando Quintero (Pescara) will be a Manchester United player.

Well someone is making that up,very convincingly or we are getting our very first columbian player at the club.

From the newbie forum.

I've taken a look at the person who made the tweets and he has around 80,000 followers. Anybody seen Juan Fernando Quintero play then?

I really hope that's true, he looks like a top young player from the clips iv seen of him.

Pretty sure he has a couple of threads on here in recent times. One saying he preferred to stay in Italy with Inter but we were interested.

These 2 -

"United? No, I like Inter," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

I prefer the Nerazzurri because they have a lot of South Americans at the club. And I'm happy in Italy.

"Saying that, it is clear that I would not turn down other strong teams because I'm ambitious: Manchester, Milan, Juventus...

"I'll decide with my family and with my agent."

Quintero has played down reports there is a €10million (£8.3m) price tag on his head should he be sold by Pescara.

"I don't know if I am worth that," he added. "I still need to learn and work hard. I need to improve as a player."

Don't often post in here...so if this can be merged lads do so. Just never heard of him and wondered if anyone knows alot more than I about how good he is.

I saw he was born in 93 and immediately thought he would be going in the academy..
Then I remembered its 2013 and he is 20.

feck off

Doesn't he operate pretty much where Kagawa plays?

From what I've seen of him, which admittedly is very little, he does actually seem like a centre midfielder. If he does indeed play like Kagawa, then he's a deeper version of him.

is the full quote though.

Yep. Took that from that thread posted earlier.

He was the best player in the Copa Sudamericana u20's apparently. Plays AM but there have been comparisons to James Rodriguez who has been a success out wide too and who we have been linked a lot with.

He's playing deeper than i expected in that Video. Looks a bit light weight though.

Looks roughly the same kind of build as say Oxlade Chamberlain, seems tidy with the ball in the clip although its only one game. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of em 10 mil hmmmmm I don't know.

I think we can safely say he's a CM!

Looks good. Nice range of passing. Hasn't got Anderson's pace and power, but more dynamic than our other options.

In the vids I watched - 3 - he didn't make a single tackle though.

Yeah whoscored says he averages less than a tackle and interception per game and has only started 2 games in "CM". But hes only 20.

Also says 3 sub appearances so some of those might have been CM.

But it says he's had most starts (8) as an AM in Weiss' position

Averages 3 shots a game, so he isnt shy

I only watched the first video, and he looks nothing like Anderson or Scholes. In fact I wasn't impressed. Whatever he did, Cleverley can do. Do not want.

 Aside from beating his man at the end you mean? The video was to show an all round performance, not "highlights" that make him out to be Messi like most youtube videos of footballers. He's 20 years old not 23 like Cleverley or almost 25 like Anderson

We have talent in midfield in our youth teams. These lads have a chance because they're already here and have been brought up at the club. There's a lot of bs over this guy and IF the quotes are true...then who cares? I think we might be interested in someone more established. Could his father play? ;)

Who is there IN terms of midfield talent in the youth teams ? Only really Powell.

The only other one is Pearson and he is atleast 3 years of the first team, if he gets there and plays deeper anyway.

We need depth. Anderson cleverley and carrick isn't enough.

You cannot include scholes and giggs into these arguments.

I checked a few forums and stats pages and it seems he's playing just off the striker, on the left (similar to Mata/Silva) or as an attacking midfielder. Not exactly the type of player we're looking for?!

There's plenty in the youth teams but we're talking about another kid here anyway who had never played in England. All he is, is another kid with someone linking him to big clubs.

Dæhli obviously.

Don't know if Daehli will be a CM tbh. He will be more of a Kagawa type player. Same with Januzaj who'll be a false winger/AM.

Well, he might develop there late on but you can't bank on it now.

He's already playing top flight in Italy, has a international cap for Columbia and was MVP in the Copa America.

He's ahead in his progression compared to almost all of our kids and if he is a big enough talent then i can see us being interested.

I disagree, he'll be a CM no doubt. He's been used too much on the wing because of his versality but he'll end up in CM. Januzaj is playing across the wing/AM already, but he is a completely different player from Dæhli.

He's playing wide because he struggles physically in the middle right now even in the U18's. His main strength is basically player clever passes and running with the ball.

He may become a CM, but you can't bank on it right now when he's 2/3 years away from the first team and only 17. He's versatile anyway, so it'll help him get a spot somewhere if he keeps developing and gets good enough.

Well, I disagree completely. He doesnt struggle physically in the u18s, he's being played out wide because we got so many other talented youngsters in the middle of the pitch that we play Dæhli out of position so we're able to play all of our promising youngsters at once.

Obviously no one can say anything for certain about these youngsters, but you and I both know that whenever Dæhli is playing central midfield he runs the show. I disagree completely that one of his main strenghts is running with the ball, as he's a very intelligent player with great composure and knows when to release the ball. He is just forced to run more with the ball these days as he's played out of position.

Quintero looks good, if he can physically adapt to this league he'd be worth a punt if the price is £10M.
